Boston and New York seem to be doing a good job showing why they're scary (great hitting) and at the same time almost laughable as serious playoff contenders (terrible pitching).

Mostly Boston of course, but Sidney Ponson and the Big Unit aren't too impressive either.

Yea, who knows how they will fare in october. Though Wang and Mussina are pretty good starters. With Zito, Haren, Blanton, and maybe a healthy rich Harden, I wouldnt be suprised if Oakland came out of the AL and won the world series.

Bottom 6TH B:0 S:1 O:1

Boston Red Sox left fielder Manny Ramirez left the game due to an injured leg.

Anyone watching? What happened?

Also, Sal Fasano's gameday picture looks like Jeffrey Tambor.

Manny supposedly had some cramps or something, nothing serious. Thank you Yankees, a 5 game sweep at Boston....the Wild Card race looks like a 2 horse derby now.

Just curious, has Colorado ever had a team ERA in the top 5 this late in the season? Their 4.09 team ERA is currently 4th best in the majors.

I saw a stat on Baseball Tonight over the weekend that said the best Team ERA position the Rockies have ever had is second worst

Just researched it a little...

Low ERAs by Rockies starters

Marvin Freeman - 2.80 in 112.2 IP(1994)

Joe Kennedy - 3.66 in 162.1 IP(2004)

Jef Francis - 3.38 in 159.2 IP(2006)

Jason Jennings - 3.32 in 178.2 IP(2006)

Isn't that something

Whats this about John Gibbons confronting Ted Lilly? It was in the bottom corner on ESPNEWS.

espn has an article up. I guess Gibbons was seen shoving Lilly in the dugout/clubhouse area after he felt Lilly showed him up by refusing to give up the ball. Gibbons was seen bloody later. The story hints that Gibbons might have made physical contact first. Although I felt the whole Hillenbrand situation was Shea's fault initially, perhaps there is a bigger issue with Gibbons than meets our Chicago eyes.
