Neither of that means s*** right now though.  They're 4th place in the Central, but we're 20 games into the season, it's not August.  Their record is good, and playing the Marlins couldn't have come at a better time for them.  Something I've noticed is that they seem to have a horse shoe up their ass so far this year.  They've received a lot of lucky plays/errors by other teams that have allowed them to win games they shouldn't have.

A couple of lucky April wins will be more than trumped by not having D Lee for 3 months.

Their talent level, even without Lee, is still pretty strong in the pathetic National League.

Everybody has a chance in that league other than the Pirates and Marlins, and by everybody I mean everybody. The Cubs rotation right now has Maddux, a struggling Zambrano, and crap. Also, their middle relief blows.....Eyre, Howry, and Dempster are good, but the rest is poop. And not having Lee screws with everybody else in the lineup, the balance isn't there. The Cubs have a definite shot to make the playoffs, but they suck just as much as everybody else in that league.

Bronson Arroyo improved to 4-0 with a 2.34 by throwing 8 innings of 1 hit ball in a 5-0 win over the Natties.  Reds must be feeling good about that trade right about now, he's actually 1 out away from being 5-0.

and the crazy thing is that the Reds are winning games

15-7 so far this year

dont know how much longer that is going to last

Back in the bigs:

Greg Norton - 3B - Devil Rays

Devil Rays purchased the contract on infielder Greg Norton from Triple-A Durham.

Norton, just returning from a hamstring injury, was 1-for-9 since joining Durham. He'll serve as a reserve at the corner infield spots and a pinch-hitter until Aubrey Huff returns. Apr. 27 - 4:10 pm et

Jose Mesa got himself a 4 game suspension for throwing at Vizquel.

Baseball may choose an owner for the Nats soon.

Mets pitcher Brian Bannister is day to day (aren't we all) with a hamstring sprain.

The Giants traded right-handed reliever Tyler Walker to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for righty pitcher Carlos Hines.

Speaking of amazing pitching talents that just can't stay healthy . . .

Latest News

Apr. 28, 2006 - 8:40 pm et

Rich Harden is expected to miss three to six weeks after a torn muscle was found in his back.

This may be less likely that last year's strained oblique to develop into a long-term problem, but it's still a cause for concern for the rest of the season. He might miss a full quarter of the year. The A's didn't announce who would replace him in the rotation. Brad Halsey will likely be the choice, and he should be picked up in AL-only leagues.

It's getting closer and closer to time that Beane should consider moving Zito. That team is not hitting, not pitching, and isn't looking healthy.

The problem is the A's are always late bloomers, they get hotter as the year goes by. But if it hits June and guys are still below the Mendoza line and the pitching is still struggling and Harden is hurt, you've got to get something for Zito while you can.

Who the Eff have the Tigers been beating up on?  1.5 games back?  wow.

The entire AL is pretty tight right now,  has everyone just gotten fat off of KC?

They recently swept the Mariners and are currently beating the s*** out of the Twins.

Better question IMO, how are the Rocks 15-10???

All 25 of their games so far have been against NL West teams, the Phillies, and the Marlins. Pretty much they have been the tallest midgets, and they have also got some nice bullpen work from Mesa and Fuentes, as well as hot hitting from Hawpe and Atkins.

Anyone else pumped about the hour special tomorrow about the Red Sox-Yanks series????????????

I can't f***in wait.

I'd rather drink my own urine and be eaten alive by stray cats than watch that abomination. I'm sure Peter Gammons will be there in his season ticket seats though, rooting for his beloved Red Cubbies.

Amazing that the two teams that meet in the ALCS last year had there highlights shown AFTER the Boston-TB game and NY-Jays games were shown to get everyone ready for the two teams that got beat up in the ALDS....

Yep, and thing I don't understand is this: Normally ESPN has some logic in that they cater to the areas with the most fans/people that watch the show(s). But they seem to forget that not only was Angels/Sox the big series this weekend, but umm the Sox and Angels play in the #2 and #3 metro areas (population wise) in the country.
