According to rotoworld, the Red Sox want Adam Miller, Trevor Crowe, and Fausto Carmona for Manny.

cuz Theo is an idiot

He might get 1 of those 3 in a deal for Manny, if of course Manny were willing to go to Cleveland.

He's no idiot. He's asking high and will negotiate from there.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs have offered Jacque Jones to the Rockies for Jason Jennings.

That's how we figured it went. We can't imagine Jones would have much luck covering center in Coors Field, and he's not exactly a bargain at $9 million over the next two years. The Rockies are known to have asked for Rich Hill in conversations regarding Jennings. They're not going to sell the Cubs on that, but they could probably get a couple of young pitchers from a group that includes Sean Marshall, Angel Guzman and Carlos Marmol.

The Reds are closing in on a 2 year deal with 37 year old reliever David Weathers. Also,The Reds are going to file a grievance over the Gary Majewski trade, claiming that he was already hurt when the Nats traded him.

Tanyon Sturtze signed a 1 year deal with the Braves.

Kevin Millar, 1 more year with the Orioles.

Roberto Hernandez and Aaron Fultz to the Indians.

Texas offers arbitration to Padilla.

According to ESPN's Steve Phillips, the Rockies, Cubs and Pirates have discussed a three-team trade that would sent Jason Jennings to Chicago; Jacque Jones, Carlos Marmol and Paul Maholm to Colorado and Brad Hawpe to Pittsburgh

If this trade really happens, can we conclude that it's a conspiracy by MLB to get the Cubs into the World Series? That would be a ridiculous trade by Colorado.

OK. And why would the Rockies want Jacque Jones? Anyone know?

Because Jim Hendry has naked pictures of someone in the Pirates organization. :P

In all honesty, this would be such a horrendous trade by Colorado. Jason Jennings is a damn good pitcher.

He's also a Free Agent in 1 year IIRC, so the Rockies do probably want to get something in return. Doesn't make it a smart deal, but it might fit into their thinking.

Cubs are close to signing Lilly. That's going to be fun to watch when the wind is blowing out at Wrigley.

:lolhitting its funny becuase its true. lilly is a pitcher that gets lots of flyball outs. everyone knows you need pitchers who induce lots of k's or groundball outs to pitch at wrigley. i hope this deal happens

Roto:

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal says Greg Maddux will get a one-year, $10 million contract with a $6 million player option for 2008 from the Padres.

The option contains escalators that can increase the value to a maximum of $10 million if Maddux pitches 200 innings next season. With Maddux joining the Padres, it's highly unlikely that San Diego will be among the top bidders for Jason Schmidt. There's now added incentive for the Dodgers to pursue Schmidt. They'll have a great rotation in that average division.

That division does not look like it will be "average" for long. The D-Backs and Dodgers are loaded with young talent, the Padres have a solid young pitching staff and some talent on the field, the Rockies are slowly but surely building a pitching staff.
