southsideirish
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) I disagree completely. KW wasn't pushed and prodded. He doesn't have to read the papers. He can keep his focus in the media on this year's team, not the past. Many athletes keep their focus on the field by not reading the papers and listening to sports talk radio. Ignoring the "noise" allows them to keep their focus on what they need to do on the field. This same premise should apply to KW in this instance. Ignore what Frank says and focus on this year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe others told him what he said. IT was not just in the papers. Sometimes it is unavoidable. I thought it was all over the place. The papers, radio, ESPN.. Not just in the papers. I am sure others have brought it to his attention as well. Some things are just not that easy to ignore. What Frank had to say over and over and over again is one of those things IMO. jackie hayes
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:28 AM) By insinuating that an orgnization is a player unfriendly organization and has been for years is throwing an organization under the bus. Naming players that have left badly years and years ago. The common denominator in all that is Reinsdorf. Not the way KW handles the players, but the organization which includes Reinsdorf in particular. So yes, Frank has done that. Frank is always hurt. He is a big crybaby. Oh my pride. WAAHHHHHHH!!!! But wait, let me tell the papers that I am not the first to lead on bad terms. This organization is known for this. I am not the selfish one. It is the organization that is wrong. That is throwing the organization under the bus. But hey, take it anyway that you want. See it anyway you want to see it. Wtf? Is there an argument there? Uhh, I've said upfront that Frank is wrong. But if Kenny really gets that upset by comments like that, he needs a diaper. Comments that are critical but always polite are nothing to go nuts over. Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Video was just on WGN, I missed it! I got to see this. Try the Final Word on Fox, in about ten minutes. Unless the video is exclusive to WGN, it should be broadcasted on the show.
The Critic
I don't like that Kenny finally cracked, but I certainly understand it. I think he just got tired of hearing Frank's sad song every week since the parade. Frank lost me when he said that he wouldn't have taken part in the parade or the first-pitch ceremony if he knew he wasn't being brought back. Right there he showed it was more about "me" than "we". I also believe he wanted to stay in Chicago because he could use his history here to get more money than he would command on the free agent market. The fact that he's not even 1/2 the player he used to be makes it easier to move on. I'll always respect the amazing things he did for the Sox, but he lost a lot of my respect with the things he said after the World Series. Kenny, a team executive, can call the best Sox player ever a selfish idiot, and it's completely justified. Gotcha.

Kenny, a team executive, can call the best Sox player ever a selfish idiot, and it's completely justified. Gotcha. That's pretty much how it is unfortunately. I'll root for both Kenny(I was one of those supporters when so many wanted him fired) and Frank. Talk just adds to good tv drama and a better chance of selling out that A's series. I've had about 3 posts today where I said KW was completely unprofessional with his comments today. I'm embarrassed with all of this s***, and I think it's a pathetic way to start the season for the defending champions. All I know is that KW and Ozzie can do no wrong with many of us right now, but if they have an unsuccessful season this year, they better get ready to have to defend any stop comments they make with the media. Kenny, a team executive, can call the best Sox player ever a selfish idiot, and it's completely justified. Gotcha. Also, I find there to be a huge difference between complaining about a person's actions (like what KW said) and Frank's comments about how he wouldn't have thrown out the first pitch/attend the parade. After all the comments that Frank made about how important getting the ring was, it sure seems like a bunch of bulls*** now.

That's all I'm asking for. We've put a lot of our resources into this season, and have given up some important pieces for the future. I don't care if they get swept in the first round of the playoffs.

Nothing more than that; I can't see him really meaning all that. Do you honestly feel he was just putting on a "politically correct" act at the end of his White Sox tenure? I was watching the WS DVD the other night, and they have footage of him saying stuff on the field right after the World Series was over. Do you honestly believe that the first thing on his mind was to say the perfect thing? I don't think so.

Now, when you hear comments about how he wouldn't have attended the parade/throw out first pitch, you really wonder how he really feels. Not for once did I expect Frank to leave quietly, but I wish it didn't become a big issue like this.

I think Frank even uses the word "breakup". But for me, that's the point. He's wrong, but he feels hurt because he wanted to be back and did everything that was asked of him. It's not enough, not nearly enough, to justify this response. He's whining a little, but he didn't say anything incendiary. Kenny's the one who made a big thing out of this. There's no reason, and it's childish. If you're the one who ended it, just shut up.
