ZoomSlowik Posted March 1, 2006 Share Posted March 1, 2006 Some of those guys seem to fit the profile, but there are some interesting omissions and some weird inclusions. It seems to me like Rip and Rasheed would have been good fits for the national team, especially considering they wanted to emphasize shooting and team work. Ray Allen is another one, although some would argue that he doesn't fit as a good teammate. On the other hand, Ridnour isn't really a good fit for what they need because he isn't the greatest jump-shooter and isn't the greatest executer in the half court. He's a pretty good player in the half-court offense(don't know where anyone got the notion that he's bad at that), he's great at running the fast break and good at deferring to others. Plus he doesn't need to dominate the ball. Well no, I think Howard is a tiny bit ahead of Ridnour and Hinrich, but the thing is he doesn't play PG and there's a glut of SF's and SG's you'd be crazy not to take over Howard. He's a nice player though. BTW, Team USA will be reserving 3 spots for young players to try out and the leading candidates are in fact JJ Reddick, Adam Morrison and Greg Oden.
