kapkomet
I personally think this year's show is BORING compared to last year. In fact, I'm making it a point to NOT watch it. The talent is just not nearly as good this year.

Rex Hudler
I'm chalking up the Bo Bice "incident" as internet rumor. I haven't seen or heard this story substantiated anywhere. No major new source that I know has covered it and the only thing you see is "our witness" or "one worker". For now, I am just not buying it. I thought Kat was much better last night than the judges gave her credit for. I also thought Taylor was solid last night, but maybe I am just biased. I watched him back a 2nd time and didn't think he was bad at all, as the judges claimed. My predicted order of finish: 1. Kat 2. Taylor 3. Chris 4. Paris 5. Elliott Losing Pickler tonight was the right move.

I don't like Chris anymore and I am sick to death of the friggin' guy, but I think he will still be standing with the final two. Does anybody else hate the American Idol video's as much as I do? I am soooo sick of "frame skipping". It's also pretty friggin' dated. If I had a great voice and was the right age, doing those stupid ass videos would almost be enough to keep me away from the show. Heck, I would hope my integrity would keep me away from the show.

The chance to showcase your talent twice per week on the most watched show in America; a guaranteed contract, album and all-out promotion; instant riches. Yeah, most up-and-coming singers would want nothing to do with that.
Kid Gleason
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) The chance to showcase your talent twice per week on the most watched show in America; a guaranteed contract, album and all-out promotion; instant riches. Yeah, most up-and-coming singers would want nothing to do with that. The fact that once you "make it" you become a pawn of AI and are forced to do it all their way. The fact that many of the people who even participate on the show end up hiring legal teams to break the contracts that AI forces them into. Bo Bice's album was nothing like what he was about. Start to finish ballads. Kelly Clarkson seems to have freed herself of AI finally, and the album title shows that. Trust me, being a musician myself, I know I would never in a million years step towards AI, even with success promised. Success in sales is not key to happiness. I would much rather spend my life doing it like I am, doing MY material, MY style, than sign on a dotted line and have to perform any of the crap written for me by friggin' Diane Warren. This is just me though. That is who I was speaking about when I said "Heck, I would hope my integrity would keep me away from the show." Kid Gleason
I would just like to say that Chris's version of "Renegade" was friggin' terrible. The guy completely missed all the things that make the original version a great song. No scream in the beginning, no killer vocal work like Tommy Shaw did originally. Yes, they are supposed to make it their own, but when you do that by sacrificing what made the original great, then you just turn it to sucking. Lowsy, lowsy, lowsy version. No heart, no energy at all.
Rex Hudler
I thought it was pretty solid myself. I also liked Taylor's 1st song. Maybe it's my age, but I was entertained by both.

I'm of the old variety. I'm old. I think Chris is good, but I think sliced bread is better. I just happened to like his performance of Renegade. I never said it was better than Styx original, I just enjoyed it. On the flip side, I am not too old to be able to enjoy newer (remember its relative) bands. I went to a festival tonight with Gin Blossoms, Cowboy Mouth, Sister Hazel and Blues Traveler. Tomorrow will see Better than Ezra, POD (eh) and Live. Not new bands, but newer than Styx anyway... aboz56
Do they not have an age limit on Idol? Taylor needs to friggin go. He has no career of himself anyhow, except maybe a Wedding Singer or something with his ridiculous dancing. Best talent left is Kat and Elliott. Chris and Taylor are just annoying and unfortunately probably one of them will win.

Dumbest name in the world, but I have always heard such great things about them, and their live shows look friggin' amazing! Are you familiar with them before seeing them live recently? Cowboy Mouth is good. They got rolling down here in the South, so I have seen them live 3 or 4 times. They have a lot of energy and put on a good show. Some of their bigger songs are older now, so I kind of would like to hear something new from them. The show overall was excellent last night. Great weather for an outdoor event and the beer was flowing. But after dropping almost $100 last night, I decided to sit tonight out. Live is excellent live and I will miss seeing them. Have you heard of a band called American Minor? They played early in the afternoon today. I have never seen them but a couple of people last night were really talking them up calling them an up and coming band. Rex Hudler
Taylor has been playing across the state and in college towns around the South with his own Taylor Hicks Band. I have never seen him, but know many that have and they all said they put on a great show. I was hearing good things about him long before the final 24 this year. They played in Birmingham two weekends before AI went live with the final 24 and unfortunately I missed the opportunity to catch them. His band is still playing without him now as the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra. AI prevents them from keeping the name even without Taylor.
