Heads22
I agree Kally. The fact that he mentions Cintron as a possibility at all infield positions does not bode well for Gloady.
Iwritecode
An article in the Cubune says that Mac will be the primary backup for OF. It seems like any guy they keep (Gload, Borchard or even Ozuna) there's another guy on the team that can do the same thing.
RockRaines
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) If Kenny really means it that way and Cintron can play 1B, 2B, 3B and SS that leaves 0 use for Gload (though he had little value previously). Once again afirming the fact tht Gload will either be dealt or let go in the next week. on another note, I see your Angels folded to the White Sox again in Sim. Now give me shields. Kalapse
All of this talk about specialization of bench players is so damn screwy. The way it looks it seems to be: Mack - LF, CF, RF Cintron - SS, 1B Ozuna - 3B, 2B Widger - C If this is true that wold leave no clear reason to keep either of Borchard (OF) or Gload (1B). But I just don't see us carrying 12 pitchers, right now there's 10 pitchers that have their spots locked up (MB, JC, FG, JG, JV, BM, NC, DH, CP, BJ) Leaving 2 spots open if we go with 12 and 1 spot if we go with 11. There's the 2nd lefty spot which seems to be Javier Lopez' at this point in time and the other spot would be for a middle reliever and I just don't see anyone in camp right now that can fill that 2nd spot now that Baj is gone. That makes me believe that we'll end up carrying 11 pitchers to start the year seeing how this season we'll actually have a long man in the pen (BMAC). So that means 5 bench players, so 1 of Gload and Borchard has to make this team. If you're looking for the better all around hitter of the 2 it'd be Gload but if you're looking for someone who will actually give you some defensive flexibility Borch is you man. The battle for the bench is an interesting one to say the least.

You want Shields I want Cabrera sounds like a nice 1 for 1 deal.

AddisonStSox
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 09:08 AM) Maybe in bizzaro world. Here in the real world, Gload is gone. He has been in denial for two days. He just can't come to grips with Gload being the odd man out.
AngelasDaddy0427
IMO Ozzie should start Cintron in CF every single day until he learns the position... It can't be too hard... From what I understand he has a decent arm... With Cintron as our starting CF that means that Brian Anderson can stay in AAA to get his at bats and lets us keep both Gload and Borchard on the bench... Is this missing green, or is it just a horrible idea? Cintron is not an outfielder. You don't put people at positions they don't play when you are trying to compete. It just doesn't happen. I think Anderson could benefit from some more time in the minors too, but as long as he's here, and there isn't a better "right now" option, he better be the starter for the Sox. First of all, using players out of position is a not a good idea for a contending team, especially one that is built around pitching and defense. I also find it hard to believe that CF is that easy to learn. And yes, Anderson appears that he still needs some work offensively. But defensively, he should be good enough. And really, thats all we need from him. Anything we get from him offensively is a bonus. It's a moot point anyway, cause Cintron ain't gonna play CF. If Anderson fails miserably, Mackowiak is the guy you're gonna see out there. I don't even see the need to put Cintron anywhere else than the infield.
