Vazquez walked a tightrope in his first inning of WBC ball.

Leadoff single.

Hit batter.

comebacker to get the force out at third.

Then a flyball double play to get out of the inning.

Javy was pretty filthy in the 2nd inning but got a little wild in the 3rd.

3 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K

Javy just gave up an infield single to Carlos Lee and then issued a walk to start the 4th inning and gets yanked.

Cubs' farmhand Federico Baez comes on in relief and promptly walks the first batter he faces. Bases juiced. No outs.

Federico Baez with another walk to score Carlos Lee from 3rd base. 1 ER for Javy.

Federico Baez gets a flyout and a DP to end the inning.

Final line for Vazquez: 57 pitches, 3 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 K

What right does Selig have to make the Yanks take down THAT sign?  There isn't anything demeaning in the message, and it's on Yanks property.  I hope this damn WBC bombs and Selig looks like an ass, what a prick.  And you MUST be a prick if you have me defending King George and his band of merry man like this.

The real black eye would be to the Bush Adminstration if Cuba wins it.

Panama-Cuba has been a fantastic game.

Caballo just K'd w/ the bases loaded, 1 out, and the tying run on 3rd.

This is why I was looking forward to this.......tense baseball in march. Gotta love it.

I know that's not what I'm saying.  How they hell do you triple 3 times in 2 innings, that's just bizarre.

They showed highlights of two of them, and they were both misplayed by Vernon Wells. The first one was a short liner that went over his glove on an attempt at a sliding catch, and another was a hit in the gap that was just over his glove that he would normally take a better route on and catch. Let's just say the Jays shouldn't move him to right any time soon.

That Cuban 2nd baseman  has really impressed me.  What a catch to end the 9th.

I'm pretty sure that was Gourriel, their star that typically plays 3B. To answer Cheat's question, he's 21, and I'm not sure about his aquatic efficiency. :P

The game is getting worse for the US. They're down 5-0 now. Dontrelle left down 3-0 with runners on first and second. Leiter came in and walked the first batter and followed that up with a single. Needless to say neither has pitched well.
