Netherlands is trying to pull off the upset and has just tied it 3 to 3 in the sixth inning. With today's news, we have also added a third WBCer. Cintron is 0-2 with a K and 2 LOB.

Mexico is up on S. Africa 2-0 in the 2nd.

EDIT: Cintron just got his first hit.

Ew.  Game over.  Canada wins.  f*** Canada. :(

Oh well, if the US beats South Africa and Canada beats Mexico, the US will still advance.

I think there is a way for the U.S. to beat South Africa and still not advance to the next round.

EDIT:

The United States (1-1) must beat South Africa on Friday or have Mexico lose one of its remaining games to stay alive in the 16-nation tournament.

If Mexico, Canada and the United States finish 2-1, the tie would be broken by fewest runs allowed per inning in competition involving only those three teams. In that case, the United States would advance if Mexico scores at least three earned runs against Canada on Thursday.

If Mexico wins by scoring less than three runs, however, the USA is eliminated before even playing their final game against RSA.

How do you figure? That would mean that there is a 3-way tie at 2-1, and Canada has already allowed 14 runs. The US has only allowed 8, meaning they'd have to get knocked around by South Africa to allow more than that.

Edit, nevermind, only games against the other tied teams count.

Also, can we please just have multiple WBC threads. Seems stupid to just have one.

I know, I dont understand why we can just have one. Seems silly. The Diamond club is really slow, at least the wbc adds some spice to the forum.

I dont mind if they archive the game threads after the games are a few hours over.

Canada will have to score 2 runs then, which may be a problem with Loaiza on the mound.

Canada is in a must win position now. -- They've allowed 12 runs in the US & Mexico games. Mexico has allowed 2 in the US & Canada games. US has allowed 8 in th Mexico and Canada games. -- Canada's only hope is to win this game, otherwise they're going to lose the tiebreakers.
