WHarris1
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) NOTRE DAME! Haha that's funny cuz that's exactly what I told Rowand he would pick as his champ.
redandwhite
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Man, Digger goes out on a huge limb. Besides the 8-9, the only first round upset he picked was Seton Hall over Wichita State and that's just because he hates the valley. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Digger Phelps might be the worst analyst ESPN has, although I'm sure some people will say Gammons simply because I'm making the statement. Regardless, Phelps had an entire piece on College Basketball Tonight last week about how Notre Dame was going to turn heads and how they were capable of winning it all and being a dangerous team come tournament time. The next afternoon Notre Dame was gone. Same thing goes for Texas. This guys brackets, opinions, and everything inbetween are laughable. He had Texas winning it all last year, just like he does this year, and we all know what happened to that Texas team last year. Fact of the matter is, he predicted Notre Dame to beat Boston College by default last year, and it happened despite my 'Phelps Takes A Digger' sign in the crowd, and since then he's some guru. You might be better off doing the opposite of what he says in every single game and I couldn't be more serious.
greasywheels121
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) Another fun fact, Lunardi actually got 2 teams wrong this year for the first time ever? I always here he gets all but 1 teams right every year, but this year Air Force and Utah State got into spots he had Cincinnati and Florida State getting. Pwned, although I feel kinda bad for him. This is the most poorly done bracket of all time, so for him to only miss 2 teams isn't that bad. He was way off on the seeding, although really he had the seeding right and the committee did it wrong. Maybe we should just have Lunardi do the brackets every year from now on. That's always been the dig against Lunardi though; he's never accurate on seeds.
Chisoxfn
Right now my final 4: Texas Memphis (Thinking real hard about UCLA being there though) Uconn Nova Texas vs Uconn in the finals Uconn winning it all If its not Texas in the final 4, my pick is Iowa being there and not Duke. They are actually a very good defensive team who isn't always consistent offensively, which is pretty ironic since they play out west. Chisoxfn
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) You're a Southern Cal kid, how good is UCLA? Very Good. I'm really thinking of having them in the final 4. Everyone here (aside from rowand) slams the west coast schools, but they'll be the ones impressed when they see UCLA go deep into the tourney. I know I wouldn't want to play them. They are peaking at just the right time and have quite a few different options and have improved there depth thanks to mid-season injuries that forced other guys to step up there roles. whitesoxfan101
I like the way UCLA plays defense, and if anybody from the west is going to make a run it's UCLA....but I just am not sure if they have the offensive weapons yet. I think within the next few years Howland will lead them back to the Final 4, but not yet....they don't have the mix of offensive weapons to go with the defense yet. I really like Farmar though, and any team with a really good point guard that plays defense has a shot.

If Josh Shipp were healthy, I might have them going far, but without him they've only got 2 guys averaging in double figures and 5 guys averaging over 6 points. If Farmar and Afflalo come back, they should be solid next year with Shipp healthy and a decent PF recruit coming in.
IlliniKrush
This, from Andy Katz, today about what he heard from the committee: One of the main reasons Air Force got in the field was that the Falcons were the No. 2 team in the Mountain West, ranked as the No. 8 conference. And yet they go on record continuously and say that they look at schools, not conferences and that conference affiliation does not matter. Kyyle23
You guys need to hear Jim Nantz attempt to defend himself on this radio show http://wfan.com/chrismikeaudio/ Its about the 4th or 5th one down. Nantz really is ridiculous, he keeps changing his teams he is arguing about, and just shouts and interrupts when the other guy is startign to make a point. greasywheels121
I'm so glad Coach K had time to film more commercials for March Madness.
