Felix
Minnesota!!! I was scared for a minute that ND would get in instead, but *phew* Time to take the NIT by storm

Felix
PSU had some big wins, but they weren't as deserving as some others. I just realized PSU is playing Rutgers in the first round. That should be hilarious for my family, one brother goes to PSU as a grad student, the other to Rutgers. whitesoxfan101
I was hoping NIU would get in, but probably better that they didn't.
Felix
So wait, can someone explain to me something about the NIT? According to this, one of Miami (Ohio), Minnesota, Notre Dame, or Wake Forest would get a spot taken away if one of the group 5 teams didn't make the NCAA tourny. Delaware State didn't make the NCAA tourny, so I thought they were supposed to take one of the spots away from Group 4, however all 4 of the teams I mentioned before are in the final bracket. Anyone NIT savvy here? Wait, nevermind. The extra spot is because of Utah State, who made the NCAA tourny. WilliamTell
I know this would never happen, but it'd save a lot of problems for the selection commitee. I believe the NCAA owns the NIT tournament now and I think it'd be cool if the selection commitee picked the top 48 schools and put them in the NCAA tournament, leaving 16 open spots and then put all of the bubble teams and then some in the NIT tournament fighting for the last 16 spots. I know it won't happen because college basketball woudln't want to wait for 1-2 weeks to get the cames played by the NIT but I think it'd be fun to do. WilliamTell
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) Those bubble teams would be tired as hell. They'd never have a shot. Some would have byes for the first game so each team would only play 1-2 games plus I'd give them a week off between. This thing could get done in 5 days. Felix
Rutgers knocked off PSU today 76-71, Butler beat Miami (OH) 53-52, Manhattan edged Fairleigh Dickinson 80-77, UTEP is ripping Lipscomb with 5 minutes left in the second 70-55, Charlotte beat Georgia Southern 77-61, and Stanford/Virginia is at the half with Stanford up 36-23 while Northern Arizona and Delaware State are tied at 25 at the half. Its hard to come up with different ways of saying "Team A beat Team B" Edited March 15, 2006 by Felix
