That aint too bad of a prediction

I have my doubts on iguchi and crede.

Iguchi because of how hes been past few at bats (even at end of playoffs if i remeber) but that was because of his batting stance apparently (he said he was coming back to how he first had it via yahoo), and crede just becasue, he may go .240 again.

I dont see uribe losing the job.

Bold prediction that will make everyone nuts, myself included:  Cintron will be the sox starting SS by the end of the season.

His glove isn't as good as Uribe's so I say no. I do like his stick though and he's still young. He's the type of guy I wished we had a few years ago to play 2nd base when we had Willie Harris and a washed-up Robbie Alomar instead.

I agree his arm isnt as good as Uribe's, but I believe his glove is just fine. His offense is what is going to appeal to fans however. If he has the ability to hit around .280 and up, you will be wanting him in the lineup everyday.

His glove is below average... D'Backs fans wanted rid of him, and they've seen plenty of Royce the Choice™ down there.

Its funny though, from watching the baseball classic you'd think he was pretty solid defensively. I know that hasn't been the case, but the WBC games have been about the most I've seen of Cintron and count me as impressed (albeit in it a limited sample size).

Very nice swing and if he fields like he has in the tourney, thats just a plus. He doesn't have much range though for a SS, which is why I think he gets knocked defensively.

I actually think he'll be the starting 2nd baseman when the season ends. I'm really high on this guy. And I may be high for saying this.

Well, hopefully you are. Not sure he can be the run producer that Iguchi is capable of being.

If he hits like he did in 2003 (big if), you won't be. Since then though, Cintron hasn't been a very good OBP guy. After his breakout 2003 season, Cintron has been putting up Neifi Perez-like numbers with a bit more power. He doesn't walk much but he doesn't strikeout much either and makes a lot of contact. Hopefully, he becomes 2003 Cintron again. :cheers

I found this article at the Diamondbacks' website...

http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/NASApp...t=.jsp&c_id=ari

What are the Diamondbacks thinking with these last few trades? We had Jason Bulger and Alex Cintron. Now we have Jeff Bajenaru and Alberto Callaspo. Both pitchers are older righty prospects who were injured early in their careers. The infielders both showed potential. But with Cintron, we knew what he brought to the table and I liked what I saw. What is the purpose to this trade (especially if Craig Counsell's labrum tear is more serious than they are letting on)?

As for the Cintron/Bajenaru trade, I really think even though they don't say it, the Diamondbacks did not like Cintron's defense at short, certainly not enough for him to be the everyday guy there should Counsell not be ready to start the year. Also keep in mind that Cintron was going to make $1.6 million this year, which is a lot for a bench player, and that figure would only go up in 2007 when he's eligible for arbitration for the second time. They apparantly had good enough reports on Bajenaru to like him and they could use more depth in the bullpen, which still has a lot to prove.
