Jimbo's Drinker
These dumb cub fans will have no clue these two pitchers are out. you will see a group of dopes painting "we got wood" across their chests at the home opener.
G&T
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) If there was any chance he would have passed a physical...Bobby Abreu should be in their outfield or Tejada should be starting at short for the Cubs. There's no way they should have held onto him last offseason. I don't care how valuable young pitching is...it isn't valuable in the doctor's office. Remember that if the Cubs got Tejada, Prior could have ended up with the Sox. Might have been a blessing.
quickman
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Man, the Cubs suck.... and Steve Stone looks like a genious (perhaps he is one?) stone looks great and I am certain as Stone was that he was hurt all along and the Cubs were covering this up to see if it cleared up. Unreal, I just heard him on the score on Sunday and he denied everything and said in essence that everyone will see when he pitches. well, Stone was right. thedoctor
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) Tickets went on sale AFTER that first BP report of Prior having a sore shoulder. They've been on sale for a couple weeks now. That should be all the "Why" you need to know. yup. couldn't be more right. the cubs successfully fleeced their fans yet again. let's line up another attendance championship boys. woo-hoo. lol. There are more than a few whispers that concerns about Prior's health from the other side of trade talks is the reason he's still in Cub blue when he throws simulated towel games. The Critic
The most amazing thing I heard all spring was when Pat Hughes and Ron Santo were saying "Maybe it's as simple as this: Mark Prior might not be a Spring Training pitcher. He's going to be there for you when the season starts, but for some reason he just doesn't seem to need Spring Training". And they were SERIOUS. It really is incredible how quickly Prior went from Mr. Perfect Pitching Motion to The Glass Messiah.

Kyyle23
Phil Rogers took some time to send some volleys at Baker, Hendry, and even Jim Riggleman http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-home-utility In 1998, Wood threw 120-plus pitches in nine of his 26 starts, including 135 just before he was sidelined with the elbow injury that would lead to Tommy John surgery. In 2003, Wood went 120-plus in 14 of 36 starts overall, including five of six in one late-season stretch. Prior, who had been shut down the previous September as a supposed precaution, threw 120 or more pitches 10 times in his 33 starts, including five of his last six regular-season starts. While Wood led the majors with 4,007 total pitches that season, Prior averaged 114.2 per start, the most in the majors. Neither has held together for very long since then..... .....How worried is Ozzie Guillen? Not too worried. The manager reels off the names of his four healthy relievers, then gets to the reason he isn't concerned about a 3-11 spring. "The big boys are pitching well," Guillen said. Teams that go deep into October often reveal the strain the next season. But so far, so good with the Sox's four primary starters from 2005—Mark Buehrle, Jon Garland, Freddy Garcia and Jose Contreras. Maybe that's because they had only five 120-pitch starts between them a year ago, the most extended of which was a 123-pitch outing by Garland. Guillen manages his resources. Baker dares fate. The Critic
It's impressive that the Sox starters throw the amount of innings they do without going over 120 pitches very often. Of course, the article doesn't say how many 118-pitch outings they had.....
