BFirebird
I have read a couple of articles on him and his delivery but have yet to see him pitch in a spring training game. Is his delivery effective? Are the Sox really high on this guy? Does he have a decent chance of making the club and would he be effective during the regular season? I know the sox are struggling to find another lefty. I think Cotts would be enough...but there are lots of good left-handed hitters in the division, so I can see their point. If anyone has some insight it would be great.....thanks.
SSH2005
He was impressive once again today, although facing Cubs minor leaguers. But he has a funky delivery and throws pretty hard for a somewhat sidearmer. He throws a lot of strikes. He pitched an inning today and induced a groundout, weak lineout, and struck out the last batter he faced. Surprisingly, he has a really good shot of making the roster if he keeps pitching the way he is. Javier Lopez is giving up too many hits (especially to lefties) and Armando Almanza just plain sucks. maggsmaggs
Boone is the clubhouse leder. As long as he throws strikes and pitches well the rest of the way. Ozzie is going to go with the young guy.

Balta1701
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) WTF? I assume he meant he was leading the clubhouse chase for the 2nd lefty spot. Unless he beat up Konerko and ripped the C off of his Jersey.

Flash Tizzle
What would you guys estimate Boone's GB/FB ratio this spring? Infinity:1? I haven't seen one ball hit higher than a players head. Next Saturday, Gullien needs to put together a true test for Boone. Prepare yourselves for an epic matchup: BOONE VS. BONDS: DESERT STORM III. I would say that the highest anyone has put the ball in play was today's soft line-drive.
SSH2005
It's nice though. I'd like to see Logan K a few more batters but our infield defense is very conducive to a guy who can induce a lot of groundouts. I'd rather see a guy throwing strikes and making the batter put the ball in play than watch a guy like Marte walk batter after batter. RockRaines
IMO, there is no way Logan shouldnt make the team. From what I saw from him today and pervious games, he is our best option for a Loogy. He has good stuff, pops the mitt, and has out pitches to both LH and RH batters. The guy is the real deal and should earn that spot.
Felix
I haven't seen him pitch yet, but from what I hear from people on here, he's been impressive. I look at his numbers, and they are impressive. But still, he's playing against minor league scrubs. Put him against some quality major league players and then I'll decide what to think of him. I was listening to the radio about him and they said that they wanted to see him struggle once and then see how he reacts his next start. I completely agree, if a player can rebound after he struggles he is a viable option. But yes he needs to face some major league hitters. RockRaines
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Logan is in this pen just based on lack of choices. Obviously its great he has taken this opp. to really impress, but its not like the Sox have another obvious choice. If the Sox can get a solid vet to fill out the pen, Boone should still make the team, and I would be a very good spot to be in, because with another reliable arm, we could basically pick and choose where Boone could pitch, and get him some great expierence in the process. With that said, if Boone makes it to June with the Sox, it would be simply amazing. Kevin Walker made the team last year didnt he? Logan is better than he will ever be. He is an obvious choice at this point.

SoxAce
From what I've heard, this kid is very cocky (in a good way) but that's the kind of confidence you need to succeed in the majors. He'll be fine.

He'll be fine. We'll see how well he pitches in DESERT STORM III when his faces perhaps the cockiest mf'er on the planet. Really, If he doesn't enter Kris Honel territory of cockiness then it's fine. Believing in yourself and your abilities should be a high priority, but hopefully he isn't thinking to himself, "I can get anyone out now!!" Jordan4life_2007
Today was my first opportunity to see Logan pitch live. He was indeed very impressive. His fastball kinda explodes when he releases it. It looks a full 3 or 4 mph faster than it actually is. I echo the sentiments of the thread in that eventually it's gonna be time to see what Logan can so against some real major league compeition. I know he's already had success against a few of the Oakland hitters (Eric Chavez being the obvious one).
RME JICO
I think the first reaction is to doubt a player that it not coming up the traditional way, but some guys just figure it out. Sometimes thats all it takes. From what I have seen of Logan, he seems like he belongs in the big leagues. The way he is pitching, I am sure he would be the 2nd Lefty out of a lot of bullpens. He just needs to continue to throw strikes.
DBAHO
I still think the Sox are going to look for a guy at the end of ST for the bullpen. Whether it's a lefty or not, I don't know. But Boone has certainly put himself on the map. It's a 2 horse race b/w he and Lopez right now. So long as Boone doesn't have any brain implosions on the mound in the next week, the job could very well be his. But I am hoping we get Fabio Castro back as well (which is probably doubtful at this point). I think he's shown he wouldn't be completely out of his depth either if we got him back, although he should go down to AA or AAA.

Right now, he's the most impressive of a bad bunch of LHP's. But to expect him to do this all season long....I agree, this isn't likely to happen. I could certainly see the sox pick up a vet who could give them 50-70 innings, and pick the spots Logan can come in.
