G&T
Per the Score. There weren't any terms announced, but Zach Zeidman (sp?) announced the deal. Edited March 22, 2006 by G&T

jackie hayes
"Brian Griese has agreed to terms on a five-year contract that should keep him in a Bears uniform through the 2010 season..." Yeah, okay.
Jordan4life_2007
Griese is expected to supplant Kyle Orton as Rex Grossman's backup.

WilliamTell
This is a very good move. Is he for sure going to be the back up, or is there going to be a fight for the starting spot?
iWiN4PreP
solid backup indeed

EvilJester99
Well at least now when Rex gets hurt the Bears actually have a back up QB plan....only took 3 friggin years for them to figure out they need a quality QB.....hell even longer than that with all the other dopes they have brought in as well. SnB
At least they seem to finally have a plan at the quarterback position this season. How many years in a row did they go into the season without a real backup quarterback?
qwerty
I think orton will come out and proove that he is indeed the best quarterback in this town. 2006 opening day starter = kyle orton.

CanOfCorn
Griese has beaten out Brad Johnson, Jay Fiedler and Chris Simms, and I also think Gus Frerrote. Now i know they aren't Elway, Marino and Montana, but be prepared for a good ol' fashioned quarterback battle this summer. which is good for Rexy, Kyle AND Brian. Look for Griese to come out on top, though. Just a hunch.
GoodAsGould
well considering Lovie has repeatedly said Rex is our starter I think ill prepare to see Rex come out on top... even if there is an "open competition" only way Rex loses if he extremely sucks. whitesoxfan101
There should be a competition between Rex and Brian, but the amateur operation the Bears run won't allow it, they are in love with Rex at unimaginable levels.
GoodAsGould
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) There should be a competition between Rex and Brian, but the amateur operation the Bears run won't allow it, they are in love with Rex at unimaginable levels. Well Angelo wanted the competition actually.... he wanted to bring in a guy that could be the starter or at very least compete with Rex. Its Lovie Smith who kept on assisting that Rex is his guy. And since Lovie was able to do so much with so little from the QB position last season Im going to trust his judgement.
