Alford to interview with Missouri

I hope Iowa keeps him.

Gage, you sounded pissed when I texted you about McDermott. I think at least half of Hawk fans were expecting him in Black and Gold soon.

God damn right I was pissed. I was thinking we were going to upgrade. I was in a grumpy mood all day on Friday. I didn't see the game, since I was in Tuscon Electric Park watching the game. The whole f***ing game they kept repeating the score saying people were requesting it (so many Hawkeye hats out in the AZ area).

My dad and I were just getting mad as Mario and another friend were egging us on.

I hope to hell Alford doesn't start interviewing while the season is going on.  If he does I'll be totally pissed off.  His job is to be loyal to the Hawkeyes and get this team to finish strong.

I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.  Afterall, Iowa has given him the benefit of the doubt during his tenure here and gave him a nice extension a few years back (didn't he pretty much turn down the IU job a while back???).

I'm one of the few that thinks Alford has figured things out and I want him sticking around Iowa City.

Thats before this team took a dump yet again in crunch time. That said I'm not horrified, I just really like McDermott and for the Clones to get them, well damn it.

Only reason I'm pissed at Alforid is I put a lot of the blame on him. He should have told IU to piss off until the season was over and just ended stuff at that. Instead he never said anything and that led to way too many distractions, imo.

If the prick doesn't want to coach at Iowa, he can go elsewhere. If he does, shut up and say so.

Ha yeah. I would've reluctantly accepted the guy, and I thought he was doing everything he had to this year to make himself the candidate for the job. But IMO, he dug his own grave on any momentum he did have with that loss. Yes, that was a lucky shot, but it should've never come to that.

Where is Gene Honda Civic to tell us that Alford to Indiana is still a lock btw? My guess for the final 2 for Indiana as of now is Gillespie from A&M and that Whitman guy that Mark Cuban likes.

And I find it pretty funny that Alford wants to dump Iowa for Misery....says all you need to know about the Iowa basketball program.

If Alford wants, Ricky Clemons is a suitable Pierre Pierce substitute.

Where did it say he wants to dump Iowa for Missouri? It said he has agreed to talk to them. Just because one interviews, does not mean he is offered or accepts the job.

And all it says about the Iowa basketball program is that Alford is about one bad year from being fired, so him checking out his options would be a smart thing if you ask me.

Why would Alford prefer to go to Mizzu?  I don't get it.  He must realize he's on the hot seat in Iowa and if he can land a gig elsewhere its more money and at least a few more guaranteed years.

i would say that's a pretty good assessment. to me it is a lateral move, but in missouri he at least is starting fresh and probably buys himself a few more years in a rebuilding program. plus, he probably knows the state pretty well from his time at se mo, so maybe he sees something there he doesn't see at iowa.

i do wonder if bowlsby has told him he is not getting a contract extension. if he doesn't get one this year, i doubt he ever will.

No, I think it says more about the fact that Alford knows his job isn't secure so if he could get good money and a long term deal at a place like Mizzu, that may be best for his career.
