Rowand44
The bullpen is definitely a bit scary though I'm not going to panic just yet. I still think Tracey is going to play a big role this year in our pen, and be one of our better relievers.

I would trade a bunch of guys like Tracey for a reliable reliever right now. I guess I'm all aboard the quickman boat. EvilJester99
I like Tracey as well, but he seems to have a big issue with control as well.
SSH2005
A few. But not too many. I'll go take a look and see what it was in the first month or two. In the first month it looks like he was in a couple extra inning games. A couple in which the start (usually Duque) didn't go very deep. Down the stretch in Sept, which would be most relevant I supposed because that is what the roles will be like this year. He had 10 appearence. 6 were blowouts and 2 were the Cleveland series. I mean, Thornton will see an important game or two in teh first month, but if he sucks I don't think he'll cost us enough games for it to matter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Vizcaino had 5 losses last season so it's fairly apparent that Thornton could have the same impact on our record, especially since he will be in the same role as Vizcaino. Thornton is much worse than Vizcaino so he will probably hurt us even more than 5 losses.
jphat007
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) Vizcaino had 5 losses last season so it's fairly apparent that Thornton could have the same impact on our record, especially since he will be in the same role as Vizcaino. Thornton is much worse than Vizcaino so he will probably hurt us even more than 5 losses. Well. Ozzie used Viz more in setup situations early on. Thornton's role will be more like what Viz did in September. If it's apparent that Thornton can't get it done by blowing a game or two in APril (though I don't think he'll be in the game hardly at all with a lead) then he'll likely be shipped out. If it's obvious that Thornton will do way worse than Viz and cost us more than 5 or 6 games, then Ozzie and KW will ship him out. I'd rather go with Lopez and Logan, but KW wants to try it out. We'll see. Edited March 26, 2006 by jphat007
Jordan4life_2007
Call me crazy, but I actually feel a little better about the 'pen compared to a couple weeks ago. Logan and Lopez have just been flat good. Can they carry it over to the regular season? That's the obvious question. But atleast we have some options now--where as before we were lookin' at Jenks, Cotts, Politte, McCarthy, ?, ?. As far as Thornton goes, I think Ozzie is gonna be really, really careful with him, atleast at the start. I doubt you'll see him in any kind of game winning or game changing situations.
