CWSOX45
in my draft this year I relied heavily on pitching, after drafting Johan, Rich Harden, Zach Duke, Francisco Liriano, Jarrod Washburn, Javy Vazquez and Shawn Chacon I have plenty of starting pitchers. I made an offer of Zach Duke to a guy for Joe Blanton and Hideki Matsui, he declined and insisted on me either giving up Hermida or Ryan Zimmerman. This deal is a no brainer and I'm going to do it, but I don't know which player to give up. I really like both of them, I'm leaning towards Hermida right now because I hear Zimmerman could be this years version of David Wright. So who do i cut loose? Zimmerman or Hermida? iWiN4PreP
wow thats a tuff one. Either or is my opinion. Both hits in bad parks, prolly washington being a bit worse. Hermida seems better, but a better question is - who is your thirdbase / outfield?
AbeFroman
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) in my draft this year I relied heavily on pitching, after drafting Johan, Rich Harden, Zach Duke, Francisco Liriano, Jarrod Washburn, Javy Vazquez and Shawn Chacon I have plenty of starting pitchers. I would lean strongly towards trading zimmerman. Hermida could be a 25-25 guy this year. For what its worth, I've seen Hermida go as high as the 10th round in mock drafts. Both players play in "pitcher's" parks, so that is largely irrelevant. For me, the issue with Zimmerman is that he plays third base... Third base is so deep this year, zimmerman is comparatively less valuable than the average third basemen in the league. Zimmerman would have to have a totally absurd year just to finish in the top five of third basemen.... Not too likely for a rookie. He may be a great rookie: say he bats 290 and hits 23 homers. Thats still probably not as good as arod, wright, chavez, cabrera, a healthy rolen, chipper, glaus, aramis, or hank blalock. Hermida plays the outfield. If Hermida plays to ordinary expectations, he can surely be a productive player in any fantasy outfield. Hermida is every bit as capable as Zimmerman of batting 290 with 23 homers (and a bunch of steals). At the outfield position, thats a decent third outfielder. Also, ESPN has Hermida as the number 32 outfielder... and Zimmerman as the number 27 thirdbasemen. Even though ESPN has a tendency to over-rate prospects like Hermida, I'd still keep the outfielder over the thirdbasemen
ZoomSlowik
Keep Hermida. The speed is a major factor, and he's probably going to have more homers too. Zimmerman will probably hit for a solid average and do okay in RBI, but he hasn't shown much of a power stroke yet, which is even worse considering the park he's playing in. sayitaintso
I'd keep hermida.

You are way overvaluing Duke. He isn't worth Godzilla striaght up (IMO). Liriano is not starting and Chacon is a crap shoot. What does your offense look like? I don't think your pitching is as solid as you think it is.
