Nope...just a white racist cop harrassing her cause she's black.  She clearly had every right to defend herself in this situation.

You forgot to put that in green.

Apparently, the Representative from Georgia wasn't in the habit of wearing the lapel pin which identifies her as a Representative.  Stupid.  Almost as stupid as some of the things she's said over the years.

According to one of her statements, lots of representatives fail to weat that lapel pin. TIFWIW, since it's again coming from her.

Probably correct. Also, she'll probably use the "the cop should have known who I was" argument. Still no excuse for punching the cop.

Prediction: nothing will come of this, since the cop will be "convinced" to drop the charges.

One word to describe her. b****. It is bad enough that the reps don't have to follow the rules like everyone else and go thru the detectors, but her attitude speaks volumes about the arrogance of our elected members of government (of all parties). If a cop asks you to stop, stop. If you ignore them, of course they are going to stop you, even if it includes grabbing you by the arm. They should have just tasered the b**** and shut her up for a few minutes.

Any adult with more than two functioning brain cells knows this. Doesn't say much for our elected officials, does it?

Where's Detective Fontana when you need him? :lolhitting

Maybe she just punched the cop because she was angry at getting caught being a crook!

You know, if she could somehow do something obnoxious enough to restart the House ethics committee, which has been almost completely shut down by a deadlock on both sides ever since the Republicans tried to change the rules of the committee at the start of 2005 and recanted in the face of public pressure, then I'd be more than happy to escort her out of the Congress.

im sorry that you feel the house ethics committee has been ineffective lately. what does this have to do with a congresswoman punching a cop? how is that the republican's fault?

Very simple...the same Congresswoman who punched the cop, as shown by the link above (which someone else posted, not me), also spent $1000 to fly Isaac Hayes in to a rally in her state, in a manner which almost certainly is either against House rules or just plain illegal...and the solution to that problem is the House Ethics committee, which has been a shambles since the Republicans tried to rewrite the rules of the thing and the Democrats lost interest in it.

She needs to be charged and punished.  Cut and dried.  Members of Congress are not above the law.........no matter what color they are.

She will be...and I think the fact that she decided to make this a racial issue has only hardened the resolve of the capitol police. Had she just come forward the next day and apologized, I bet they would have dropped it, but it's going to the grand jury, and it's what she deserves.
