Dick Allen
I just hope ESPN shows the game when it resumes. If it takes too long they may blow it off like Fox did a couple of years ago.
SSH2005
It wasn't that bad a pitch. A meatball is what Baj threw to Hafner last year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't forget Sizemore, both in the same inning.
THEWOOD
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) The ball was crushed. One of the highest home runs I've seen at USCF. No s*** it was high... but it just kept going. My seats are in section 350...fairly close to the foul pole and when the ball hit in the bullpen it just stuck...didnt move at all...it was like a nice lob shot in golf. Dick Allen
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) It wasn't that bad a pitch. A meatball is what Baj threw to Hafner last year. Buerhle wasn't too happy with the pitch, and considering the distance it travelled and its height, I assumed it was a meatball.
SleepyWhiteSox
Just got home... Well, the jets flying over certainly gave me chills, and it was worth it just to soak in the pre-game atmosphere and the unveiling...But the rest of my party didn't wanna stick it through... The upper deck, minus the first 5 rows, stayed dry for the first 15 minutes but then we got soaked the next half hour or so... So what are they updates? Is it gonna start back up? I heard chatter on the train that it might be played Thurs.?

G&T
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) What's a Rosin Bag? It's the white bag at the back of the pitcher's mound that they use to dry their hands. It's kinda like chalk.
jackie hayes
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) What's a Rosin Bag? Serious? It's a bag of white powder behind the mound that pitchers use to dry their hands. Just don't use Doc Gooden's.
chimpy2121
I hated having to leave but I'm in the same situation as TheWood. O well, the ceremony was amazing and the game was awesome until it rained. Can't wait for tuesday! (minus the drive there)
greg775
Resin bags must be expensive. They don't use 'em in high school ball and Babe Ruth, Legion ball I don't believe.

The rest of the game will look better from my bed considering I have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow. That works. I can't wait until I can get season tickets!! G&T
QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) This isn't meant to be critical, I just don't have the answer and am curious. Why would they want to start the game at 11 p.m. with tomorrow's weather to be nice? Is it because they know nobody will attend tomorrow's game on such short notice and there would be no walk up gate at all? Is it because they think we will likely win the game? is it because with an off date tomorrow they can play until the 2 a.m. curfew without it bothering anybody? I just wondered what the reason would be to delay a game that long, especially if it poured so hard. I won't mind at all watching it on ESPN at 11 but it seems like a no brainer to call it off. I think it's because ESPN has rights to televise the game and they aren't going to clear time to show it tomorrow. So it's either played tonight or we don't get to watch. Obviously I have no proof of this, but that's what I think. Plus, players have plans for tomorrow I'm sure and it's more convenient for them to get it done. They want to get it in so they don't have to bring everyone back tomorrow. There wouldn't be any walk up gate because the game is a sellout, and for the sake of each pitching staff, playing tomorrow would basically make this a 4 game series. If they got it in tonight, and they only need an inning and a half for an official game, the bullpens get a day's rest. I live on the northside and it stopped raining here.
