Dustin Hermanson - R - White Sox

White Sox placed RHP Dustin Hermanson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 25, with a lower back injury.

The White Sox apparently will back off Hermanson and try to get him ready for the second half of the season. It may not work out, but it's worth a try. Apr. 1 - 5:07 pm et

Boone Logan - R - White Sox

White Sox purchased the contract of LHP Boone Logan.

Logan will be the second lefty in the White Sox pen after allowing one run in 13 innings this spring. He's unlikely to be a factor in AL-only leagues. Apr. 1 - 5:05 pm et

Welcome to the "I am not retiring because I want paid final tour" for DH...........2007 is club option

Nothing wrong with that. The Sox knew the risks when they got him. But if the Sox knew it was that bad, they'd put him on the 60-day dl instead of the 15. So I gotta think there's some small chance he'll be useful this year. Not much, but some.

I really, and I mean really, hate to say this, but IMHO, I believe Hermy is done. And it's a shame cause his arm, legs, etc.. feels great, but you can't be effective if you have serious back issues. I really hope I'm wrong.

I hate to think that, but it's hard to believe and anything else. I hope he can come back in the second half and contribute somewhat. There's no need to rush him.

Hermanson will earn $3 million this season and will have a $500,000 buyout for next season. There's a reason he won't be announcing his retirement any time soon. But I think he will probably do it once the season is over.

I still don't understand why he just didn't have the surgery. Yes.. it's risky. But he had nothing to lose other then not playing and that's what's happening now. Easy for me to say, I know. But I would have done something rather then nothing. A shame though. Classy guy.

In hindsight, that's probably what he should've done. He did bust his ass (lost 10-15 pounds) in the offseason to be ready for the start of this season. It was a gamble that didn't pay off.
