The vast majority do pick up a lot of English.    :banghead

It isn't easy to learn a new language as an adult, but many of them do pick up a lot of everyday-use English since it is essentially a necessity here.  And it isn't an unwillingness to learn, it's a matter of finding time and resources to do so.

And yeah, it's soo horrible that Americans learn another language.    :headshake

No one said that it's going to be easy learning a new language. If I moved to a new country I'd learn the language or try my hardest to. Americans shouldn't have to learn a new language just because others can't or won't learn one. And I never said all were unwilling to learn. I'm talking about the ones that are unwilling to learn. No one can fault them for coming over and trying to start a new life, but starting a new life means there will have to be some changes.

YAS, the learn English thing comes up all the time. Yes, you would learn the language  for the country you are in, but if you and I met in a restaurant, we would converse in English. If the shopkeeper speaks English, you would be more comfortable speaking English and he would get more of your businesses. Yet, the language thing always comes up, and I find it rather silly. I wonder if deaf and mutes (is there a better term?) should be allowed to use sign language?

Just don't pin it to a quote of mine because I didn't say it.

Sorry, I just looked back at my post and can't figure out why your post was there. Your post should not have appeared in my response. Sorry for implying that you supported a speak English provision. There must have been a different post I wanted to quote and would go back and correct but I doubt anyone really cares. :D

I just saw a picture of Mexicans holding crosses and pictures of Jesus. Is that ok for them to do that, I think so. But if I ever went to go protest something and did that people would think I'm crazy.

No, they'd think you're very religious. :huh

This is getting out of hand both ways. And it's only going to get worse. No flag should be burned in any country. I do like the guy's hair though, haha.

agreed

burning Mexican flags is just a poorly thought out, reactionary act.

Its a flag. Its a piece of fabric. Yeah, its also a powerful symbol. But its still just fabric.

Thats my feeling on this. Someone wants to be stupid about it? Fine. Who cares? If I see a US flag burning, I can still sleep at night knowing that this act does absolutely NOTHING to my country. It does nothing to weaken it, or make it less appealing to me. My country still stands for all the same things, good bad and otherwise. Therefore, I am not offended, or even effected in any significant way.

Go on. Burn a flag. See if I give a damn. If thats all you can do, then I'm fairly sure you are no threat to me.
