Heads22
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) Can't we just do a SoxTalk one? It seems as though anyone who wants to go from SoxTalk is forced to be among the mass WSI posters. I'm sure there would be a better turnout. With a turnout of 80 or so between 3, there'd be no use trying to get it.
SoxFan1
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) With a turnout of 80 or so between 3, there'd be no use trying to get it. With 90% of those being WSI, I would at least consider organizing something. Get the idea out for an all-soxtalk outing and see how good the feedback is. southsider2k5
The biggest problem for this site is that the vast majority of posters are from outside of the Chicago metro area. For whatever reason our demographic is hugely outside of this area, and it really makes it difficult for an outing to be anything but a weekend game in the middle of summer, which are pretty much already going to not be available this year. To be honest I don't see the stars aligning right for something like this, especially with the turnout of only 80ish people between all three sites. Its unfortunate but it sounds like a combination of negative stories that got out from last year, a bad date, and many people living too far away for anything other than a summer weekend (whether because of college, or where they are from) made this years COTC a complete bust for ticket sales. Unless ticket sales jump at the last minute, I don't see them saving a good date for us, as they probably have organizations willing to put up more than has been done here. Steff
QUOTE(TornLabrum @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) Why exactly do you think those mocking posts were sent to the ****house? So they weren't "misstatements or exaggerations"... Hal, it's got nothing to do with you or the rest of the mods over there. It has to do with the bad apples. So don't take it so personally. The point is that those that were the targets weren't lying as was implied.
The Critic
I think no matter what date the Sox chose, there'd be people who couldn't or wouldn't go to that date. Too early in the season, too late in the season, crappy opponent, can't do a Monday, can't do a Thursday, you're going to hear reasons or excuses why people will choose not to attend. I'm a little surprised that this COTC is selling so much worse than last year's, considering it happens on the day Big Frank returns to Chicago. But maybe that actually contributes to the low turnout - perhaps people who already have tickets don't feel that an extra 30 for the COTC part alone is worth it. Walker2Baines
I agree that the $30 just for the party is a bit steep. I mean it's not like they are serving filet mignon or anything like that.

I mean it's not like they are serving filet mignon or anything like that. I'll be ordering 10 tickets tomorrow afternoon (after I round up all the cash), as long as it's before 5 pm right? And as far as the WSI people being jerks, I can back that up. I went to last years outing and they seem to have this elitist attitude amongst them, they were even chanting "WSI" at the game, that is just stupid....to come to a game and cheer yourselves. Hopefully no bad apples this year.

It ain't filet mignon, but the Bertuccis put out a pretty nice sperad, not to mention 4 or 5 beers cost you 30 bucks up top and it's all you can drink during the party. Do people realize (I just got mine) that the ticket for the game is only $14? So for $44 bucks you get the food, the starter beers and a decent seat afterward? Tonight I'm going: 1 ticket = $32.00 Let's say 4 beers (okay I'm lowballing here but come on) = $28 (w/tip) 1 polish = $3.50 Reminding inevitable Twins fans that not only do they suck, but their mother is a lumberjack: priceless. J/K Anyhoo, that's $63.50 right there. I'd say COTC is a bargain. On another note, if people want a soxtalk.com-only event, I would think it could be done, but just on a much smaller scale. Like a group ticket buy, but not trying to rent out the patio or what-not. As for the stories of WSI wrongdoing--hey, it is a great site technically, no doubt. I don't know why there has to be any bad blood, though, for a reason I cite often: when people ask me what's so great about going to Sox games, I say: Where else in the world can you go some night and instantly have something in common with 30,000 people? Dig? And, AND... it's fight club night! Are you kiddin' me! This is gonna be great! Edited April 21, 2006 by LVSoxFan

Sorry but all you can eat and drink doesn't excite me. I don't want to go the way of Bob James, Lamar Hoyt, David Wells and other fat Sox players. itsnotrequired
FYI, if anyone still wants to add their seating info, I'm still updating the seating chart. Feel free to post. southsiders.net have been posting their seats and it would be cool if I could throw soxtalk.com members on there. http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbullet...ead.php?t=67674 Edited May 5, 2006 by itsnotrequired
