JoeBatterz
White Sox Power Rankings A compiliation of Power Rankings focusing only on the defending World Champion Chicago White Sox. CBS Sportsline: #1 They enter as the favorite this time after sneaking up on all of us last year. With their stable pitching staff and improved thump, they should finish where they start: atop their division, league and baseball. ESPN: #1 The first to repeat since the '99-'00 Yankees? Why not. Adding Javier Vazquez gives them even more depth in the starting rotation. Fox Sports: #2 Turns out that rotation depth is already coming in handy. With Dustin Hermanson out until at least halfway through the season, Brandon McCarthy will become a high-leverage right-hander in the Sox bullpen. He should thrive in that role, or in any role for that matter. Mike Greenfields Team Rankings: #1 RotoTimes: #2 You want pitching? The White Sox certainly have it, boasting five starters (with the addition of Javier Vazquez) that topped 200 innings last season. Sports Illustrated: #1 They hit 200 homers in '05 and added a guy (Jim Thome) who smacked 419 dingers between 1994-2004. They had the deepest staff in the majors and traded for a top-tier starter (Javier Vazquez). They won 99 games, ripped through the postseason (11-1) and begin '06 as, hands down, the team to beat. Questions? TSN-Canada: #4 Pitching is still the name of the game for the champs, but two newcomers could really make a difference offensively; DH Jim Thome can put up big power numbers in the middle of the order and CF Brian Anderson has all the tools to be an everyday player, but Thome does have injury concerns and Anderson is still just potential at this point.
