Roy Williams

It is funny to me R.Williams and Coach K a couple of years ago, it must be hell to have to coach 6 to 7 McDonalds All-Americans EVERY year, so what they are young they should mature and play together faster than a normal team of a coach who really deserves the award with a bunch of guys not All-American's.

Roy's leading returning scorer was David Noel, a walk-on WR recruit that scored 3.9 ppg. His 2nd best option was Reyshawn Terry, a guy who wasn't even 1st team All-State in high school and barely a top 100 recruit. Roy had 3 Mickey D's AA's on the team, all of whom were freshmen. Wes Miller, the teams 5th leading scorer, was a walk-on recruit that transferred from James Madison.

Out of the non-freshmen, UNC's highest rated player is Reyshawn Terry, and he wasn't even a top 75 recruit. Roy had one top ten recruit on the squad, Tyler Hansbrough. The rest weren't even top 20 recruits with Danny Green checking in at #24, the next highest rated.

So yes, Roy did deserve it this year.

I don't care what the Illini fans say, Bruce Pearl got robbed for coach of the year. He took a team that was supposed to finish at the bottom of the SEC and got a 2 seed in the tourney (I don't care if they were seeded too high). As much talent as UNC lost, most people still expected them to be in the tourney.

You forgot also M.Ginyard.............Gatorade player of year to go with upperclassmen B.Sanders who also won same award plus T.Hansbrough, plus 2 mickey D's AA'S in freshman class and D.Green played in Mickey D's all star game.........................Poor Roy Williams ALL coaches should have such a down year of incoming talent to have to work with when guys leave.

I didn't forget Marcus Ginyard. He wasn't a Mickey D's AA, and he wasn't a top 30 player in his class. He wasn't even a top 50 player in his class, checking in at #52. Byron Sanders won the POY in Mississippi, but that's like being the tallest midget. He wasn't even a top 100 recruit. Danny Green was one of the Mickey D's AA's.

Tennessee had everyone returning from a 14 win squad. Tennessee wasn't short on talent either, having a top 25 recruit, top 50 recruit, top 100 recruit, which isn't even including their best player Chris Lofton.
