jackie hayes
Maybe Ozzie is just testing Garland, seeing what he does when his manager blames the loss on him. Since it's not necessary to win April games, might as well see what size his cojones are now, rather than wait till October, when we're guaranteed to play, due to our World Series bye. SSH2005
How about blaming himself for leaving Garland in for way too long? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't argue with you there. Ozzie brings up a ball that was likely a homer if there was no wind. So he knew that Garland was getting hit hard. Yet, he leaves Garland in the game to squeeze an extra inning out of him? Conflicting... The past two games have been managed poorly by Ozzie, IMO. Edited April 8, 2006 by SSH2005
greg775
Managers are always gonna be blamed when teams lose. He proved he is a good manager last year, period. We can't do better than Oz and I hope we never try to do better than Oz.
hammerhead johnson
QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Yeah sure know-it-all teenager (or 20-something). The rolly eye bulls*** and the "condescending crap" comment, yeah, that's being civil. The fact that you say I'm dead wrong shows you know f*** all about baseball. They have Logan as the lefty specialist, what is it about that you don't get? Are you that dense? Yeah, I think maybe you are. They brought him in to face the lefthander, micromanaging 2nd guesser. And guess what, micromanaging 2nd guesser, he'll do it again. That's exactly what he did last year. He tests guys out early in the season. If you had your way, he'd play all the regulars all the time and use 2 bullpen guys. Wake up. OMG, he ripped him a new one.

We can't do better than Oz and I hope we never try to do better than Oz. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not true. I said that Ozzie managed the past TWO games poorly. We lost the second game of the season and I don't think that Ozzie made any poor managerial decisions in that game. Freddy just got rocked because he had poor stuff that day. There wasn't much if anything Ozzie could have done to impact the outcome of that game. However, the past two games are a different story. He took the bat out of our hottest hitter's (Thome) hands in the third game by having Iguchi lay down a sac bunt. He also used a rookie pitcher in the biggest at bat of the game against our biggest rival instead of our best lefty in Cotts. Tonight, he left Garland in the game far too long trying to squeeze extra innings out of him. Garland was getting hit hard and he ended up giving up the lead. And Ozuna looked so pathetic in LF, it may not have been a bad idea to sub Gload in the game earlier. I realize that Gload is not very good defensively in the outfield either but anyone would have been an improvement over Ozuna tonight. Garland was getting hit hard and he ended up giving up the lead I don't know if he left Garland in the game far too long. We're playing the Royals, who on paper, suck. Garland was victimized by that bad play in left by Ozuna also. C'mon. Garland needs to suck it up and pitch in this situation. I don't think you yank him that early. I like Garland and never was part of the Judy crowd, but I wonder if sometimes that California personality doesn't take over, especially getting staked to a big lead against a crap team. Loss of concentration? Or perhaps he just didn't have good stuff. I'd like to have heard Hawk's take on him. What did Hawk say?

DBAHO
Boston Red Sox fans probably think Terry Francona isn't a good "in - game" manager, as the vast majority of White Sox fans think Ozzie Guillen isn't one either. But you know what those 2 can say to all of you in return. They've coached World Series Champions. So what would you rather?

kapkomet
Why is it that people feel that they have to have the last word in any disagreement? Is it that impossible to walk way from a thread before it escalates into some of the s*** I'm seeing here, and worse, what's not here? Drop it. Please. I enjoy both of your postings (whether or not I agree with each is something different, but to each their own), and I don't want to see either of you go. Please agree to disagree, and leave the personal s*** out of it. Thanks.

Yep, tell that to the Indians, who dug themselves in such a hole early in the year, even playing amazing baseball in the last couple of months of the season couldn't get them in the playoffs.
