Rowand in the 2-hole is barfalicious.  The Phillies will learn to keep him at the bottom of their order sooner or later.

Yeah he just strikes out way too much to be a good #2 hitter. But looking at the Phillies, do they really have many other options there? David Bell?

Yeah, WTF are they thinking? You have Rollins, Utley, Burrell, Howard, Abreu....and you hit Rowand 2nd and Howard 6th?!?! This SHOULD be their lineup IMHO:

Rollins

Abreu

Utley

Howard

Burrell

Rowand

Liberthal

Bell

P

That top 5 is flat out SICK and after Rollins you could mix those 4 in just about any order (although Burrell 5th is probably something you'd do either way) and a bottom 3 of Rowand, Liberthal, and Bell in the NL is pretty damned good, as good as you will find over there. Their rotation is still a huge question mark though.

Probably that he absolutely rakes in the 2 hole and that he'll see a ton of fastballs hitting in front of the murderers row that is the heart of the phillies order. Not saying I'd do it but you can make a point for it.

That has to be the only thing they are thinking. I just don't see Rowand being the same hitter he was in 2004. The holes in his swing have been exploited and he hasn't learned to adjust.

True, I believe that strategy worked for us in 2004 when he hit over .300 in the 2 hole. But still, he's worthless in the 2 hole unless he rakes since Row never walks, and at the same time the Phillies have too much talent to be hitting Rowand #2. Rowand as a #6 in the NL is damn good, put him there.
