Benchwarmerjim
I wouldnt be worried about the Twins unless the Sox and Tigger absolutly collapse. Not enough offense. and Santana and Liriano cant go on 2 days rest
Balta1701
So...before this week, the Tigers and the Sox were both at the bottom of the league in strength of schedule. This week, the Tigers have played the Yankees and Red Sox, the White Sox have played the Blue Jays, Tribe, and now Texas, and both are getting their asses handed to them. I'm really starting to wonder...maybe the AL Central just isn't as good as it looked coming into this season, and maybe the Tigers and White Sox have really just been feasting on mediocre competition. Now all of a sudden both of them are losing left and right as their schedules get tougher.

greasywheels121
I just can't buy that the Sox are not as good as perceived. You can't get lucky 110 times in one year. And then add players with historically better numbers to that roster and expect to get worse. We're just underperforming at a bad time. In no way am I trying to live up to my moniker of Mr. Pessimism, but don't you think that maybe we just had a magical season where we got career years from a lot of guys, and the ball just bounced our way a lot? I believe there was some magic involved *COUGH* Rally Crede *COUGH*, but other than a couple arms in the bullpen, I believe everyone else is fully capable of repeating what they did last season. Oh well. I know I'm the polar opposite of you, but I did say at the beginning of this season we were going to disappoint people. At least no one can ever take 2005 away from us. Give me af***ing break. The White Sox were compared to the f***ing 1927 Yankees last year. I supposed the ball just bounced the Red Sox way back in 2004 after they were down 0-3? How many f***ing series do you want to win to cheer you up? How convinient is it for you to make this post when the Sox are going through a tough stretch? :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly
Kalapse
Alex Gonzalez just put a ball in the left field stands resulting in a 2-0 2nd inning lead of Zach Minor who is making his major league debut.

No other team is on fire out there. There's a bunch of teams hovering around 31-33 wins in both leagues. We have the talent to pull away from the pack. It's a nasty period of baseball right now. However, it is pretty damn frustrating that we could be in 1st with a decent cushion, if we had won a few of these games the last week. We had a magical season last year, and no one should have expected us to execute/catch breaks like we did last year. I was the main person on this site saying that Politte was going to be awful this season....and that I would have been happy with a 4.50 ERA. I'm still hopeful that this is a playoff team....but I've seen nothing to suggest we're a front-runner for the World Series. Yes, we were the best team in baseball last season. However, we had career years from a lot of guys, including Garland, Cotts, Politte, and Hermanson. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Agreed. It's a nasty period of baseball right now. Things could be a lot worse than they are right now. You can't really get upset about it....if we continue to struggle, then we don't deserve to be in the playoffs, etc. Edited June 4, 2006 by fathom
