No, I don't think you can say that in week 2 of the season. Jon Garland is probbaly my favorite Sox pitcher to watch when he is going good. The guy can be a phenomenal pitcher. But, when he is bad it stinks. But, then all bad games stink I guess.

1 decent season if you think Garland is some upper tier AL starter you are fooling yourself, he is a soft-tosser who had a career year. He is a .500 starter at best take off the blinders on JG.

Who cares, were in the middle of our second catastrophic collapse in one week.

hahahahaha, who knew that going for the sweep and facing a comeback in the final game of the series would be called catastrophic?

we have the best 3-4 combo in baseball

Manny Ramirez + David Ortiz

Alex Rodriguez + Gary Sheffield (or whoever is hitting 4th there)

Sorry, no.

Soft tosser huh? I didnt know low 90's fastball/sinker pitchers were soft tossers?

2 bad outings and you abandon all hope for a player. Man im glad you arent affiliated with the white sox in any way.

Ozzie likes to get pitchers their wins. Maybe Ozzie thought it was a little more important to get Jon his first victory under his belt then the off chance they might blow this game all together. This is game 9 of a long fricken season...maybe just maybe Ozzie knows what he is doing,

He's scored a run and made a nice sliding catch today.

He is hitting .061, has zero steals, and already has 2 errors this year. I'd say that's not contributing much this year.

If he continues to struggle, all the more reason as to why he won't be traded. No one is going to pay $20 M for a below average pitcher.

You mean the same way he kept Garland in forever in the first game, and a 6 run Sox lead turned into a 4 run loss? I'd hope Ozzie is confident enough in Garland's stuff that he knows he'll have plenty of more opportunities for the win in his 30+ other starts.

he's been a liability

thats the problem with guys like podesdnik, when they dont get on base, they are absolutely useless...even when a guy like crede goes into a slump, he gets the occasional homer here or there that helps the team, but unless scotty is consistently gettin on base and using his speed, hes not very useful

If you can trade Chris Benson, Mike Hampton and Kevin Brown, you can trade Jon Garland.

But, for the record, I think he'll start pitching much better and it's foolish to give up on Garland now, particularly when we have so much invested in him.
