Everyone knows our organization would be absolutely ripped in the media if Buehrle injured his arm/shoulder during a slide. See, if Lance Broadway were sliding, no one would care. It just happens to be one of our best pitchers participating in rain delay theather.

Sheesh, did Lance Broadway run over your dog or something? Piss in your cheerios?

Rip on Ray Liotta for a week...

See, I disagree because basically now we're saying there is a risk in anything he does, and like I said I would bet there is more risk in some of his daily routines then there is doing this.  What if he goes shopping and has a watermelon fall on his foot??  Anyways, I think both of us will agree this is a dumb argument, we're arguing over a giant slip n slide basically  .  I'll just let it go, no need to keep arguing.

The purpose of a tarp isn't to slide on it.

And aren't the Sox more liable if an injury occurs on the field as opposed to if he injured himself at home?

Kinda made me think of the titans sending mcnair home so they're not liable if he gets hurt at their practice facility, if I understand that situation correctly...

I absolutely love MB and his enthusiasm for the game. However, if I were paying him millions and millions of dollars, I wouldn't approve of his tarp diving under my supervision. If he does it at his house, fine, but at the Sox facility while in uniform, the Sox can't actually condone this.

If somebody wants to detail the statistics on how many people are injured on slip n' slides every year, perhaps I'd be a little more upset about Buehrle and his tarp diving.

Silly.

He's more likely to get hurt driving home.

Kenny doesn't want Mark's money, just for him to stop risking injury . . .

per the blog:

Ozzie Guillen and Ken Williams' pregame meetings with the media were dominated by two things ... tarps and hair.

During yesterday's rain delay, Mark Buehrle sprinted across the tarp several times as the rain fell and slid headfirst to the cheers of the soaking fans.  He did the same stunt during a rain delay last season.

Given Mark's importance to the team, Ken Williams was not pleased and fined Buehrle for the action.

"First off, his form stunk," Williams said.  "Did you see the picture in the newspaper?  I don't really want his money, he should appeal the fine.  I just want him to stop doing it so he doesn't get hurt."

If I were Mark I would be upset with a fine and even just with being told "I couldn't "dance" in the rain." I don't like it when management starts telling you what to do and not do in situations not specific to your job. And I am a manager. I think it's just fine to have fun when you want. It puts a different face on you and the organization. IMO Kenny and Ozzie are over reacting.
