48 hours in vegas

I always watch the Sox at Caesars Palace or the Bellagio.

As for eats, not sure where on the Strip you are staying, but I'm always partial to the Victorian Room at Barbary Coast. Open 24 hours, and very good food for cheap. Always try to hit up the Cheesecake Factory in Caesars Palace when I'm there also.

Been there 11 times I think, and never fail to do the above things.

I think the best place to watch a game is The Mirage, eventhough Caesars is not a bad place either. Anywhere you eat will be decent, just a matter of how much you want to spend.

And in regards to Barbary Coast, I dont know how you party or hang out but Barbary Coast is the SHADIEST hotel on the strip. If you are there after 1 in the morning you are guranteed to be propositioned with sex and/or drugs.

Also who are you going there with. what type of crowd?

What should i do, and where should i eat???  Nothing too expensive.

I want to also know the best place to watch/bet on the sox and bulls? Is there free drinks when you sports bet?

It depends what's expensive to you, but you can hit the buffets for a wide variety of good eats for fairly cheap.

A hidden gem for watching sports in Vegas is the Monte Carlo sports book. It's not too large, but not too small, either. Very, very good wait staff, you never have to wait very long for a drink. And you can place a small wager or two and drink for free (make sure you tip at least a buck a drink, though).

As far as eating is concerned, if you're looking to stretch your dollars, eat at any of the buffets. All you can eat, get yourself stuffed and not be hungry for several hours for about $15 or less, depending on where you go.

I want to go to Vegas now!

Used to be free drinks but a lot of the sports books are going away from that. Biggest things to do in Vegas would be eat, drink, gamble, and go to clubs. I guess you can also lounge at the pools if the other choices don't interest ya.

I'm going to be in Vegas in the end of May. Are there Sonic's in Vegas? My buddy has been raving about that chain, and it might be my only chance to try one.

Look at me, going to Vegas and I'm looking for fast food chains.  :rolly

I don't think so. I'm going to be in Vegas right around than, although I think its the 1st of June when I'll be there for 2 nights.

However, there is one on 6th Street in Lawrence, Kansas.

Theres a Sonic down the road from me here in South Carolina.

Nothing special IMO. I'd rather hit the In-n-Out in Vegas 10 times over.

Never been to an "In-n-Out", but the name always disturbed me. I guess it's a good thing they aren't a hot dog stand.

I'm making my first trip to Lawrence this summer for a wedding - anything that's a "must see"?

I don't know about "must see's", but Lawrence does have a pretty killer music scene. I can find out what bands are sure fire good shows if you are interested in that.

The Bottleneck is usually where the good shows are. Good coffee and drinks at the Bourgeois Pig. Yellow Submarine has a kick ass Chicken Parm sub.

A friend of mine was a barmaid at the Bourgeois Pig. Never made it to Laweance while she was there.

I'll second hanging out at Barbary Coast, pretty much because itt IS kind of seedy and dive-like. It's like being in one of the old downtown Vegas casinos without the expense of the cab ride from the strip. :D

They also have $1 shrimp coctails t the bar, and you can't beat that. :headbang

Monte Carlo has a brewpub on site. The beer was marginal when I went but I'd give it another try.

There were a couple of other good brewpubs in Vegas, the always excellent Gordon-Biersch (the original brewery is in Palo Alto), and a great quirky place called Holy Cow. I've heard Holy Cow closed and then reopened as the Big Dog Brewery but I've not been back.

The Triple 7 brewpub, in the Main Street complex downtown, is pretty marrginal, but it still beats the hell out of a Bud or a Miller.

There is a place called Samba which is one of those Brazillian steakhouses with all you can eat meat. And it is good stuff, too, not Denny's-type meat. About $40 a person, but worth it. I can't remember which one it is in, I want to say Ceasars, but can't remember. And I was just there last month! Man, I drank alot.
