illinilaw08
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Wade's play was not a backcourt violation. I didn't think it was then and now there is proof that it wasn't. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2006...tory?id=2492756 It isn't just the on call, as much as I admire Dwayne Wade, he sells contact better than anyone else in the league and it is frustrating to watch. Yes, I know Michael Jordan got a ton of calls too, but Wade is getting ridiculous. I also agree that Mavs fans do not have too much room for complaint because Dirk was favorably treated throughout the Western Conference playoffs, it is really just a complain about the state of the NBA than about one player in particular. However, Bill Simmons' column today tackles the officiating, and he has some very interesting insights, most notably his observation that the worst officials in the league tend to pop up in controversial games... so why not have the best crews out there every night. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/060620
kapkomet
Dirk better show up tonight. INSIDE. Not that outside jump shot s***. Otherwise, Miami's your champion.

Jordan4life_2007
What a game! Congratulations to the Miami Heat. I never thought in a million years they would win it all. Wade is well on his way to a Jordan-like career.

Kalapse
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) The Heat are still a good team, but they just match up so badly with Dallas, they have little chance. Mavs in 5, 6 at the VERY most. A true basketball genius.

whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) A true basketball genius. The Mavs lost this series because Avery Johnson is not a smart coach and coached the worst series in Finals history, however I will eat my crow on this one. Congrats to the Heat, D Wade and Shaq are cool anyways....and it's great to see the Bulls gave the best such a tough series.

SoxFan1
Is it just me or has the NBA lost it's lore? Wade is a star, plain and simple, but the only reason I'm glad the Heat won is because of Alonzo Mourning.

It lost it when Jordan retired, however this was one of the better playoffs I can remember seeing in terms of entertainment value.
kapkomet
That, officially, is the biggest f***ing choke in this town's history. And, one more thing. DIRK, you are NO superstar. Look at Mr. Wade for that status.

And, one more thing. DIRK, you are NO superstar. Look at Mr. Wade for that status. Blame your coach. He lost control of his team, he let them stop playing late in game 3, he refused to force them to attack the basket, and he drew up the worst play of all time at the end of game 3. Avery will be a great coach, but he got pantsed by Riles in this series and it may have cost Dallas a ring. But the Mavs (unlike Miami), are young, will learn, and will be back. Payton getting a ring sucks since he was one of the Jordan era failures, so that sucks, but there have been far bigger douches than Williams and Walker to get rings. I was thinking about and talking about this idea with someone else...First time in over 10 years that I missed whole Finals games and wasn't really into it...I still consider basketball my first sport but the further away we get from the Bulls' championships, and this year I've been having my sports fill with the Sox and the World Cup, the less interested I am in the NBA playoffs...Oh yeah, and I also hate how it feels like it takes 3 months to get through the playoffs; I coulda sworn the Bulls got knocked out over 2 months ago... whitesoxfan101
Well the one thing I did get right was in June of 2003. I was sitting there on draft night, all excited we would get that "franchise guy" in Dwyane Wade. When the Heat out of nowhere took him at #5, I was pretty much in a state of irreversable depression for 3 days. Turns out I got that one right at least. You never know if it's going to be your last chance, who knows with Dallas. You can always expect them to be back but when you're up 2-0 and lose 4 straight, that's going to linger on. Whether Dallas uses that as motivation or gets hurt by it we'll find out but they needed to take care of business and didn't. Shaq just said Riley is the best coach he's ever played for. Too bad Stockton, Malone, and Hornacek never got a ring. Stockton was more deserving and almost anyone that has never gotten one. But why would it matter now that Payton got a ring? It doesn't make Jordan seem any weaker.

I luved the williams highlights his 1st year...his move getting past payton, elbow pass at the All-Star game, behind-the-backs, etc...But yeah, he's been so much harder to bear since then, and he talks way too black for a white guy... Agreed on you never know, which makes it suck more. And I mean, even being up 2-0 you can live with, but the Mavs HAD a 3-0 lead in their hands, and just stopped playing. And then had their chances to win in games 3 and 5, but ran bad plays, called bad TO's, missed free throws......it was just a bad choke job. Miami did a great job to win 4 in a row against a great team and clinch on the road, but for their great comeback was a greater chokejob by Dallas. Great season for the Mavs, but such a bitter end. It sucks, I feel bad for the Mavs fans, it must hurt.
