Fantasy Dilemma

Right now I'm in a 12 team 5x5 keeper, pretty decent stakes, I'm currently in first, but yea it's real early.

Anyhow, I've got Crisp and Nomar, who are both DL'ed. Nomar just came off and I have until next Sunday to activate him. So I'm going to either not activate him and make him a FA or have to dump him. Here's my offense:

C Ivan Rodriguez

1B Paul Konerko

2B Brian Roberts

SS Bobby Crosby

3B Eric Chavez

Corner Infield Lyle Overbay

Middle Infield Carlos Guillen

OF Torii Hunter

OF Grady Sizemore

OF Hideki Matsui

OF Nick Swisher

OF Jacque Jones

Util Hanley Ramirez

Util Phil Nevin

I'm going to drop Jacque Jones when I activate Crisp. My question is, do I drop either Guillen, Crosby or Ramirez for Nomar. Ramirez has done well for me so far and he's going to play with FLA. Plus he's a decent option for steals. Crosby is off to a horrid start but he's been a bit banged up. And Guillen is playing fairly well so far. He could also go at 3B or Corner Infield, but neither Chavez or Overbay are going anywhere. So do I just let Nomar go or what?

For those interested, here is my staff:

SP Mark Buehrle

SP John Lackey

SP Brandon Webb

SP Felix Hernandez

SP Freddy Garcia

P Barry Zito

P Francisco Liriano

RP Bobby Jenks

RP Chad Cordero

RP Dan Miceli

No way I'd drop HanRam, and I like Guillen with that lineup protection....umm Crosby and Nomar are both injury prone so my choice would be between those 2. I'd probably just dump Nomar, Crosby is younger and has more potential to stay healthy and put up numbers, as Nomar is in a bad lineup in a pitchers park.

Just my $0.02 though.

Hanley is not going to keep this up all year - I promise you. But, it might be worth more to enjoy the ride now rather than lose him for Garciaparra who will most likely be back on the DL in a month or so.

(I just re-read your post. It's a keeper league? Hold on to Ramirez.)

I wouldn't drop Crosby, he's another injury prone guy but he has a lot more upside.

My least favorite player on that list is Nevin, but he's a good fantasy option for this year.

I think due to the probability of re-injury and the potential for decline Nomar is the most expendable.

I would also drop hanley he wont keep it up in that soft lineup. Crosby as harold reynolds said earlier in the year is a potential mvp player if he plays.

  • 2 weeks later...

I know it is hard because I seem to have the same problem with Crosby, every year I draft him he gets hurt early comes back and looks really good for about two months and gets hurt again. However I would have to drop Nevin he is just not that appealing.
