6th round just started back up, I gave up listening to the radio. I have a feeling I might just have to bomb my Foreign Policy test tomorrow to find some info on these guys. :) Five finals down, one to go. So far, A, A-, B, A, and not sure of the other one. 4.0 GPA here I come.

Actually, I played a ton of sports when I was younger. I have played basketball since I was 3 or so, and would have made the middle-school team both years if not for injuries. Almost broke my wrist one year, then broke my finger in the other. I made the Golf team Freshman year in High School, and quit Sophomore year to get a job. I don't play many sports now, but I play basketball for fun. Unfortunately, I'm a 6'2 kid with no vertical at all :D

Round 9, OMFG IT'S MADNESS, MADNESS I SAY. The players are flying off the board, seriously.

Sox take, 8th round, John Russ - Frank Phillips College, RHP

MLB says: COMMENT: Medium-large frame. Similar to Ryan Franklin. Quick arm, proper action. Fastball with average velocity with sink when down. Knuckleball with tight rotation, 3/4 bite at times. Starting to throw a change, should improve. Will develop as a Major League pitcher.

Sox take, 9th round selection, David Cook - Miami (OH), CF

Solid, average fastball, mostly 89-90 mph. Occasional sharp, late, downer curveball. Confidence in abilities. Crafty, can find hitters' weaknesses.

Cook's stats (9th): .345-15-61 33 BB 40 SO .428 OBP .599 SLG%

What is with all of these outfielders? I like the idea of taking the best player available no matter what the position or need of the organization, but once you get into the later rounds I also think you need to start considering weaknesses because the draft begins to become a crapshoot. 5 outfielder in the 1st 9 picks is a big commitment to one position, a position imo that isn't that weak. Oh well. I still like the guys that the Sox have drafted and feel like they have gotten themselves a good amount of steals, espeically in Sweeney and that HS SS in the 4th round.

I think the SS from Miami is more important to draft than Sweeney for sure.

I'm very excited about that shortstop from Miami. We never signed Chris Getz did we? If I recall he was a shortstop out of Michigan or something like that.

Dizzard is a talented player. I've heard a bit about him and he's supposed to be good. Had a bad year, but the Sox have been relatively good taking guys with a lot of talent and making some minor changes to them.

Think of what they did with Dan Wright.

This guy has good velocity for a lefty and has some solid secondary pitches. Could of went much higher had it not been for a down season.
