GM Meetings This Weekend

They will meet in Tuscon and KW and all the other gm's should be their.

The main topic at these meetings is trades as you can't negotiate with free agents yet. Some teams may also talk to their free agents trying to sign them up, or at least I think it works that way.

Anyway, I'd look for the Sox to probably be quiet, but if they are going to land a starter, it could be quickly cause they've had a lot of negative press and making a move now could be a great way to get some positive spin on the Sox.

Of course, I'd hate to see them force out a move, like KW did last year after he couldn't land Giles or Erstad so he traded the house for Ritchie.

Take your time Williams, remember, their are a ton of quality starters out their and available in free agency so you need to use that as leverage, yes their is a thing called leverage that helps you get a better deal in a trade.

kenny isnt going to make any moves just yet because he has no clue if in fact he will have to save a few bucks to pay frank with......but then again knowing kenny he will figure he has money in the bank and probably put the whole minor system with a few vets up for sale............

He's the Mets gm and personally I think that the Mo Vaughn trade was terrible as was the Jeremy Burnitz deal.

Luckily for him Appier looks to be the best thing he gave up as Appier helped lead the Angels to the World Series.

He also acquired Robby Alomar, but I can't put him at fault for that cause it was a great deal for the Mets.

Ya, the Ritchie trade was terrible, but I don't think you can really judge a tenure on one player.

I mean if KW wasn't their we wouldn't have guys like Joe Borchard to look forward to. I'm not saying he's great either.

KW wasn't GM at that time. Just because you can judge young, raw talent at the HS and college level doesn't mean you're qualified to GM a pro MLB club. KW has, thus far, proven that theory in a short amount of time. But it wasn't just the Ritchie debacle. There was D Wells too. Two "blockbuster" trades that did nothing but weaken the team. And I wouldn't call Marte a good pickup yet..... all he's proven, thus far, is that he can make saves when the Sox are out of contention. I hope him the best though when the Sox contend again..... hopefully sometime in my lifetime.

I agree with you on a lot of this. Personally I think it would be best for the Sox to move KW back into the guy in charge of the minor league operations and our draft picks and something of an assistant gm.

Then hire someone with more experience on building a major league club in. I also want them to be well respected so KW can learn that you need to treat players with dignity.

Yep, and sadly, being one of his biggest backers means I have to credit his talent for the minors while recognizing that he hasn't exactly been a great or even good gm. Thats not to say it won't happen, but my stance on a lot of issues has slowly been turning as everyone here corrupts me with their years of suffering. :metal

Syd Thrift is by far the worst. It's a shame the Orioles are searching for a GM. Thrift is the guy who asked the Blue Jays if Shawn Green was available...a year after they had traded him to the Dodgers!!!

jas i have never taken away any credit from kw when it comes to the minor system... i do belive he did his best works there..... its somewhere he should stay.....he is by no means a major league jm.....can you see the arizona meetings now..... ill bet that every gm in the league is fighting to sit next to kw and see what kind of deal they can make with him..... hey kenny...ill give you galvine for buehrle, maggs, and paulie.... galvine? kenny says... hes your pitcher right... sure you got a deal..... then the day comes and galvine not glavine shows up to spring training... kenny says hey who are you??.... im galvine the pitcher from the minors....you traded mark, maggs and paulie for me.....kenny says oh heck i thought he meant glavine the pitcher, theres two of you with a similar last name???? ahh to be a fly on the wall for those meetings......lol

At least we agree on the minor leagues. I wish we had a better general manager, but I just got a feeling that Kw is the best we got, so I'm just going to route and hope he turns into a good gm. I alreayd know he knows minor league talent, and he is smart. I disagree with his I'm in charge mentality, but I can only hope it changes, cause I have no hope that JR will go out and bring someone better in.

Come on KW, Earn yourself an Executive of the Year award!!!!!!!!!!!!:metal

well i can actually think of someone else i would rather have in kennys spot right now at gm.....i think that tony ensor the gm of the barons would be a better fit up here i feel......send kenny back down and bring up tony..........im sure he will rule with a different approach and we could actually have a chance at winning something..........
