Rex Kickass
A lot of people seem pissed off by the concept. Especially our President. Yet here's a picture of Jon Secada at the 2001 Presidential Inauguration. He's singing the National Anthem in Spanish. He did it regularly during the 2000 Bush campaign. Apparently, also common were children singing the National Anthem in "Spanglish," while accompanied by "Viva Bush" mariachi bands. In fact, it's been reported that at hispanic festivals that the President himself sang the national anthem in Spanish! Oh nos! What does this mean? Absolutely nothing. Sadly a war on culture is often time part and parcel of a debate regarding other issues somewhat related. Illegal Immigration becomes an issue on the Latinization of the United States. When in reality the Latinization is going to happen because legal immigration is maxing out from that area as well and a big part of their culture is coming with them. And it's a great thing. If only we could remember the good times when Presidential candidates and Jon Secada could get together and sing the national anthem in Spanish or Klingon or whatever - and not have it be a political issue. Amen. Those were the days, Brother.
Texsox
Patriotism among immigrants!! OMG!! That has to end Even funnier, imagine if during the Anthem they stood and started screaming, yelling, whistling, pounding their feet, clapping, etc.
