Guest JimH
Not being able to stop the bleeding in the 9th killed us. Unbelievable. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Right you are. It's bad enough you have a good matchup but you walk the leadoff hitter, and then your closer makes it worse and can't throw strikes, but then you have your lefty specialist or whatever this board wants to call him dick around with Matt Stairs to put the game out of reach. Here is the lesson to be learned, throw f***ing strikes and challenge these hitters, this is the gd Kansas City Royals, why are these guys being pitched outside so much. Doesn't make sense to me. Guest JimH
Well I give Elarton a lot of credit, he pitched well. My biggest problem with this game is that pitch to Emil Brown, I was sitting here saying aloud "bust him inside, bust him inside" and Jenks and Pierzynski decide outside corner is the way to pitch him. Jenks throws what, 97, and they are letting Emil Brown swing late and get a hit on an outside pitch. Stupid.
Whitewashed in '05
Not only that, but we should've taken advantage of Sanders and Sweeney being absent. Edited May 6, 2006 by Whitewashed in '

greasywheels121
Wow, I'm shocked this is only 19 pages. I guess it's a good thing this happened on a Friday night, or it could have been ugly in here.
Rowand44
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) I was at work watching the game, and I was thinking, "God Soxtalk has to be ugly tonight....." I'm surprised it isn't uglier to be honest. This is one of those games that hurt like crazy as a fan. I feel like throwing up right now and I'm not usually a person who goes nuts after a loss. Tonight just feels bad.

I have been really good about losing this season because of how good we have started, but tonight hurt.
Allsox
Tonight hurt and it sucked to have wasted some big HRs from Gooch, Crede and Thome and the homeplate umpire was pretty worthless behind there too. Oh well, Vazquez and Buehrle the next two days so let's take the series!

Yes, i felt the pitching calls were a bit messed up by AJ/dugout, whoever was doing it at that point. I know AJ usually calls everything, but sometimes in close/late situations the dugout takes over. I wasn't paying attention enough to figure out if AJ was glancing at the dugout there. But all in all, some poor choices were made from a pure baseball standpoint. I was talking to Steve about this too, but, there seems to have been a noticable drop-off into terms of the catching corps calling games this year. Does Widger even call his own game anymore? When he has been paired with Garland and Buehrle, you can tell the two aren't in sync. Edited May 6, 2006 by AddisonStSox
