FlaSoxxJim
QUOTE(Soxy @ May 5, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Linkage Wait, hookers? maybe. Goss' name had come up in the Duke Cunningham Hookergate allegations. This is from DKos last week: Prosecutors were tipped off about the sex-for-favors scheme by Mitchell Wade, who has already plead guilty to bribing Cunningham and is cooperating with investigators. Wilkes, through his attorney, has denied any involvement. Ken Silverstein at Harper's blog dropped a bombshell last night about just how far-reaching the scandal may be, revealing that the FBI is investigating former lawmakers, including "one person who now holds a powerful intelligence post." TPM Muckraker points out that CIA Director Porter Goss fits that description perfectly. Silverstein also disclosed that there are pictures. It seemed, as Markos said when Hotline first reported on the hospitality suites, "insanely improbable" that the culture of corruption included a lobbyist-sponsored prostitution ring. Yet five months later, here we are, firmly outside of tinfoil hat territory, reading about a Republican sex scandal in the pages of the Wall Street Journal. And let us not forget that, at this point, it is a Republican sex scandal. Porter Goss, if you'll recall, was a highly partisan Republican lawmaker for fifteen years before he was tapped as CIA Director. And Justin Rood over at TPM Muckraker thinks that the prostitution ring could lasted about fifteen years. Is the CIA Director involved in a D.C. prostitution ring? (It's so surreal just to type that question out). In refusing to investigate the CIA leak case, Goss famously proclaimed "Somebody sends me a blue dress and some DNA, I'll have an investigation." Goss, it appears, is a stickler for physical evidence. Will pictures do? Hotel logs? Eyewitness identification by the prostitutes themselves? All we have now are questions. It remains unknown who is implicated and to what extent they participated in this sex-for-favors scheme. But one thing is certain, as evidence comes to light, this scandal is going to be blown wide open, and there's no telling who or how many Republicans will go down. Which, when it comes down to it, shouldn't even be part of the equation ... for Clinton or anybody else. That should have been handled between Bill and Hillary. Bill never would have had to said "I have never had sexual relations with that woman." I didn't mind him getting a blow job. I did have issue with him blatantly lying about it. LowerCaseRepublican
The Watergate Hotel -- Seems to be Republican kryptonite. Clinton just f***ed some random women but he never tried to claim the 'higher' moral road of family values while doing it, YAS. Therein lies the funnier difference. Yeah, what Clinton did made him a scumbag but he was doing it for his personal gratification. These guys were doing this with the assistance of lobbyists to get political favors. Plus, many of them are anti-porn, anti-sex, pro-family values sorts and engaging in this behavior. Funnier still when you see that the limo company is a DHS contractor and has gotten millions from the government (and the CEO has a 62 page rap sheet)

I just see this new Watergategate (or would it be Fornigate? Or how about Watergate 2: Electric Boogaloo?) as a bit different. They were using the brothel to elicit political favors. What Clinton did with the lying was pretty bad. This one is just as well because it was pandering political favors. Perhaps the GOP should just stay away from the Watergate. They seem to have really bad experience there.

LowerCaseRepublican
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 5, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) Was that intentional? Yes, I mean what can they call it? Watergate is already used for the 70's Nixon scandal. Plus, the media's affinity for putting 'gate' at the end of every scandal, I just figured it fit. FlaSoxxJim
Not much of a surprise with all the HookerPokerGate details that have started to emerge, but Foggo just announced today that he will be stepping down as well. http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/CIAs_num...signs_0508.html
