Between my senior year of HS and most of college, I didn't sleep much - insomnia sucks ass.

Generally I get about 6 hours of sleep a night and it usually works well (every now and then I have to sleep a full 8 though).

I have insomnia bad. I ony get about 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Your body adjusts to it eventually.

I tried all the over the counter and some prescription stuff too, no luck. There is no worse feeling than being all doped up but still unable to actually fall asleep.

They recommend 8 hours of sleep per night. EIGHT HOURS??!! That's 1/3 of your life spent in a state not far from death.

Ahhhhh, just you WAIT, young man!!

You sound a lot like a young Critic (back in the stone age). I used to get 4 hours of sleep per night and that was just fine by me! Games to play, shows to see, chicks to chase, I had life by the horns!!! WHO NEEDS SLEEP????

NOW - hanging on to my once-illustrious softball career by the thinnest of threads, haven't seen a concert (or WANTED to ) in over a year, caught the chick and had a little one! Now life has ME by the short ones and I NEED SLEEP!!!!

Sleep, Glorious Sleep!!!! 8 hours would be a GOOD START!!!!

:bang :D

I work nights, so I sleep during the daylight hours. I have found that melotonin is very good for helping you fall asleep, with out knocking you out. You can figure about four hours of influence from melotonin, but you usually will continue to sleep naturally. If I want a deeper, longer sleep, I take 50 mg of benedryl. Neither one leaves you with a hangover. The benedryl usually last about 8 hours. Both are OTC.

I'd chase Benadryl with Ny Quil.

Xanax + alcohol = you sleeping for a long, long time. I was perscribed .25 mg and 1/4 would make me fall asleep in about 10 minutes. Alcohol could only make things better assuming you want to sleep 12+ hours.

Moderate alcohol, too much will keep you up.
