Drew
Stu Grimson during his time with the Hawks in the early-mid 1990s was one of the game's most popular enforcers, although thought by many as the worst player in the NHL. IIRC, ironically, he also had quite a Christian testimony and put on hockey camps and Bible studies for kids. Or maybe I am confusing him with Keith Brown, who also was into the Jesus. Wayne Van Dorp was kind of a goon who played 3rd line wing, played for the Hawks in the late 80s-early 90s before Stu. Stu was a popular player in his day, but you don't have much of a case in grouping him with an All-Star (Ventura), a Hall-of-Famer (Sandberg), and the greatest to ever play the game (Jordan). Texsox
Van Dorp was involved in a very memorable hockey fight against the North Stars. As the teams were skating in the warm ups, he took a swing at a Star's player and the everyone joined in. The refs had not entered the rink and they stood aside and watched. IIRC Hawks coach Keenan also stood and watched. The game was delayed almost 20 minutes from starting, and it took to close to midnight to complete the 3 periods. klaus kinski
Dave Whitsell for the Bears '63 Championship team wore #23. He was very good-anyone remember that famous call "Intercepted by Whisell. he's gonna go, he's gonna go, Touchdown hey-hey" ?
