In Tampa on Thursday and.....

I need some realistic ideas on how to convince my 'pregnant' wife to go to the Sox-Devil Rays game on Thursday.

Background: We are flying in that day for a wedding over the weekend. Thursday night is the ONLY day we will be visiting with her friend, and the rest of the weekend is with my family. And, my wife is pregnant, so I have to be nice to her :D

If one of you suggests a winning idea that convinces her to go to the game, I will send you a sixer of Shiner Bock....the best damned beer in Texas.

Make her the very unselfish offer of alllowing her to spend time with her friend without having you hovering around, then you go to the game.

Be very kind to her and make offers involving specific things she really enjoys. Just be very nice about it and don't force the subject, and it should work. The only issue here is she is pregnant, so she may just not want to go, and it's hard to blame her, being pregnant must suck.

I think Yasny's idea is an excellent one.

Another is to be completely honest with her. Tell her you love her, you realize she's not thrilled with the idea of going to the game, and you know she wants to visit with her friend. Offer to take her and her friend to the Batters Eye Restaurant in Tropicana Field for dinner, it is a nice restaurant out in CF in the ballpark. Very comfortable for her and her friend, and you get to see the game. They can chit chat away for 9 innings, you can see the game, and even wander around the ballpark for a few innings so they can talk in private. You can find details about Batters Eye Restaurant at the DRays website.

Seems like a nice "win-win" to me.

Oh and one last thing ...

By all means do NOT tell her you posted something on a Sox fan website asking for suggestions on how to convince her to go. :D

It needs to be entirely your idea, your creativity at work. :P

Tell her it is $1 beer night in "The Beach" (Upper deck bleachers at the Trop).

Pregnant women are all over $1 beer night

This thread has all the makings of an instant classic.

Tell her that a fellow Sox fan in Dallas just had a baby, and the Sox are worth going, and that beautiful little baby will love being 'outside' (oh... wait a minute...)

I win. Where's my Shiner? :)

Exactly.

Plus since she's pregnant, a crowded ballgame might not be the best to be, you know in case of an emergency.

I've gotten two separate endorsements of my idea. The Shiner is mine!!!

Update: I did ask yesterday and she seemed cold to the idea.

Today, she sent me an email asking the time of the game and said she left a message for her friend about going to the game.

So, you just might be the winner!
