Comparing the year Crede's having with the year Ramirez is having, throw in some defense and I'd give a huge advantage to Crede.

That's a valid argument, but to me Ramirez is the best hitter they have and he's been a good player for a while now. I was tempted to give Crede the edge, but I've also gotta respect the type of hitter Ramirez can be. I believe hit hit a granny off of us at the Cell last year.

I assumed you took his past performance into consideration, but then Lee's not in the lineup now so he's having to carry the load. Ramirez with Lee in the lineup might be even, but without Lee it's not even close. I'm not trying to be difficult here. Just a discussion.

Very good points you're making.

I guess I'm not prepared to call Crede head and shoulders above Ramirez, at least not yet.

Great Article!! Its going to be a fun series!!

Though I don't know that I would declare AJ/Barrett Even. Their bats are pretty even, especially with AJ hitting the way he is now. But Barrett on defense is enough to make anyone want to throw up. The guy is an awful catcher. Having watched the game last Saturday (my wife, the damn cub fan) I watched Williamson throw two passed balls that there is no way AJ would have let by and Barrett did, very easily at that. That play is very defining as to what type of catcher he is. While I would rate AJ on the field among the best in the league (despite his arm), I would not hold the same for Barrett. JMO. Everything else was exactly as I would have said it!!

Glad to see some discussion on this.

On the breakdowns, I tried to look at things from an even perspective and tried not to show much bias.

What I came out with was fair to both teams IMO.

On paper it looks nice, but the stats go out the window for Sox/Cubs. The most dangerous team is a slumping team, because at some point, they WILL come out of it. The Cubs and Zambrano have looked like just maybe they're coming out of it, or at least have looked better this week.

Mark, Jon and parts of our pen have looked kinda vulnerable lately at times. (I realize Jon's not pitching this series) I'd feel better if it was Vazquez, Garcia and Contreras.

I never get too cocky about a Sox/Cubs series.

Sunday's match up should be a good one. If Thome goes yard off Zambrano, this whole city will hear me cheer.

Yeap, exactly right.

That's why I said it'll all mean nothing unless the Sox come out and take care of business.

wow, friday and sunday are both real good pitching matchups.

Should be fun

Yeah, I love the finesse pitchers and the power pitchers going after each other.

Although I think I most love having a rookie face off with Garcia because I think Hill is fixing to get schooled.

I am pumped for this series I am watching all three games with a buddy of mine who is a die hard Cub fan so I am sure after a couple of beers fists will be flying. The only game that worries me is the Friday game not because Maddux is pitching but because the Sox have to play a night game in Tampa and fly back and not get in till 1:00 A.m. and turn around and play a day game. :fthecubs

Good stuff. I can't wait for the series to start. It would've been hilarious had the Sox waiting to give out the rings for this series.

I think they should replay that awesome video from opening day before all 3 games. :D

if you make it even for crede, then you have to at least give cedeno even as well....

Everything is up for debate, I'm just glad you guys aren't trashing me like you do Kotex Boy. :P

Disagree. I think the NLC is the strongest of the NL divisions.

I think its in order of East, Central, West. East has the Phils and Mets whom I think are both very good and I still won't write off the Braves.

And than there is the West where almost any team in baseball would have a shot.
