fathom
And finally the Cubs realized they were facing Ortiz, one of the worst pitchers in baseball. Someone might want to wake up the Nats bullpen.

jackie hayes
QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 18, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) That includes 3 against the pitcher and damian jackson, who also took him deep. No, only 2, and only one on the pitcher. Soriano and Johnson in the 1st Ward in the 3rd Byrd in the 4th Jackson and Ortiz in the 5th It sounds like he left some strikes over the middle of the plate, but overall, not that bad an outing. If I'm the Cubs, I'm happy w/ 5 h, no walks, and 6k's over 5.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 18, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) y? Sorry I'm late, but the reason Pierre is terrible is he has absolutely no power, can't throw, gets terrible reads in the outfield, doesn't walk, and is now scouted so his batting average sucks. But Dusty loves him since he's fast and makes contact.

whitesoxfan101
The question is (and I'll put Jenks weight at an even 300 pounds)....what will end up higher when the regular season ends, Jenks weight or Pierre's on base percentage? Jenks has a big lead right now.

Balta1701
QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 18, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) um yes, would you rather continue the inning or strike out to go to the 8th?/ Well yeah, of course you want the inning to continue, but that doesn't make it a huge moment, but maybe we just have different definitions of a huge moment. 2nd and 3rd in a 1 run game in the 8th or 9th, yeah that's a huge moment. Tying run at the plate in the 8th or 9th and that tying run is a Pujols, Thome, Ortiz, etc., yeah that's a huge moment, but unless Pierre is going hit 40 home runs the rest of the season, that ain't a huge moment to me. jackie hayes
Montague's the home plate ump? Strike zone seems to be jumping a bit, especially on 3rd strikes. Fick and Murton both got jobbed, imo.
