whitesoxfan101
http://www.suntimes.com/output/sneed/cst-nws-sneed19.html Hmmm . . . May 19, 2006 BY MICHAEL SNEED SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST All in the family? Sneed hears top Chicago Cubs executives Andy McPhail and Jim Hendry berated Chicago Tribune sports editor Dan McGrath and Cubs beat writer Paul Sullivan over what they felt was the paper's unfairly critical coverage of the team. The expletive-laced tongue-lashing supposedly took place last week at Wrigley Field, according to a source. *Sneedless to say, shouldn't the team execs be apologizing to their bosses at Tribune Co. for the Cubs' shabby record? Kyyle23
Dan McGrath was on the Score with Mike North this morning, and said that this took place a month ago, and most of it aimed towards him had to do with a misconception that was written about Jacque Jones that Andy McPhail didnt appreciate. Sullivan was on with Mulligan and Hanley and said that apparently McPhail hasnt liked his stuff for a long time and that this was a cumulative effect, not so much on something specific that he had written recently, more of his career work. And he said that McPhail got pretty personal as well, but wouldnt say what it was. McGrath said it wasnt profanity laced, Sullivan didnt comment. whitesoxfan101
Thanks kyyle, very busy day today and I didn't hear any of that. Very interesting stuff...... All I will say is that a lot of Sox fans want the Cubs to sell so that they will lose the media monopoly and we can take over the city. However I disagree, as long as the Tribune owns the Cubs, the Cubs won't be about winning and that is good for us, especially if we are doing as well as we are and trying to win as much as we do these days. Phuck the Cubs
I've actually noticed that the Sox are getting equal if not more coverage than the Cubs in the Tribune and Sun-Times, and their playoff run was covered more in the papers and TV than the Cubs in 2003.
