whitesoxfan101
Much respect guys, you did what I wish I could have done. Way to back up your teammate and do your thing guys, your not the biggest guys in the world, but you gained my respect. Thanks for not letting a pussy sucker punch go without consequence, I hope Mabry's ribs are broken and his breathing patterns are altered. Great job boys!! whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 20, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) ugh Hey I gave the nice speech, I'm actually quite calmed down from when I was at the games. The drunk ass Cubs fans were saying it was AJ's fault, idiots. Man do I hate those people. And I take back not wanting Mabry to be able to breath right, but I still hope the ass broke his ribs. Maybe if so, Barrett will think twice next time he gets ran the f*** over before resorting to sucker punching.
WinningUgly85
You know what as I continue to dwell about it, it was almost seemed like something straight out of the godfather or like a Mafia hit. AJ was the Godfather Pods and Anderson were his body guards. What should this trio be called?? Edited May 21, 2006 by WinningUgly85
Walker2Baines
This is a pretty stupid topic. If you didn't respect Pods after what he did for us in 2005, then you're a f***ing idiot. Pods shouldn't need to beat the s*** out of that pussy, to gain your respect. He should already have your respect.

wallyburger
How is A J different than Torii Hunter? Baseball needs to take thet play out of baseball. Maybe players will just start crashing into infielders on DP balls next. Barrett probably did what every other catcher , who has been cheap shotted would like to do. A J wasn't cheap shotted. Obviously he is no fighter. You don't stick your face in someone else's unless you want to get popped, and that sorry ass excuse will get him about 5 games. Brian Anderson will cost himself at least 5 games. His action was idiotic. What in Hell did Mabry do? A baseball that turns into a hockey game is embarassing. BTW, anybody remember AJ stepping on the 3B as he was rounding the bag earlier. That was as bad as Marcus Vick stomping on Dumerville. That will tell you what a jerk off A J is. Felix
QUOTE(wallyburger @ May 21, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) How is A J different than Torii Hunter? Baseball needs to take thet play out of baseball. Maybe players will just start crashing into infielders on DP balls next. Barrett probably did what every other catcher , who has been cheap shotted would like to do. IIRC, Burke gave Hunter the plate, while Barrett blocked off the entire plate, forcing AJ to run him over (which is a good baseball play, ask ANY analyst... hell, even ESPN agree with AJ, and thats rare) QUOTE(wallyburger @ May 21, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) A J wasn't cheap shotted. Obviously he is no fighter. You don't stick your face in someone else's unless you want to get popped, and that sorry ass excuse will get him about 5 games. He wasn't cheap shotted? Barrett bear hugged him (AJ didn't put his face there, Barrett did), and the two of them had known each other since high school, gone to camps together, etc., so they weren't exactly enemies. Then, out of the blue, Barrett just punches him in the face. If thats not a cheap shot, I don't know what is. QUOTE(wallyburger @ May 21, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) Brian Anderson will cost himself at least 5 games. His action was idiotic. What in Hell did Mabry do? Yea, thats true. Anderson went crazy, and I don't really know what Mabry did (although he did run in there and seemed to try to push BA away) QUOTE(wallyburger @ May 21, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) A baseball that turns into a hockey game is embarassing. Yes. QUOTE(wallyburger @ May 21, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) BTW, anybody remember AJ stepping on the 3B as he was rounding the bag earlier. That was as bad as Marcus Vick stomping on Dumerville. That will tell you what a jerk off A J is. He ran over Aaron Boone last year, but what did you want him to do? Stop? Try to move out of the way while running full speed? He's not exactly the most agile person alive, so I think momentum basically screwed him over even if he wanted to avoid Boone. And anyway, Boone is a b****

fathom
Did anyone happen to see Eric Byrnes run over Brian McCann at home plate last night? McCann looked like he broke/tore something in his lower leg. I eagerly await some idiotic articles saying they should ban players from running over the catcher. Lets see.....the Indians didn't even feel the need to retaliate against AJP....and Marcus Vick got kicked off the team. Vick went out of his way to step on Dumerville's leg. AJP, while he almost definitely could have avoided Boone, didn't change his direction or stop so he could do it.

Not following you Wally, AJ was grabbed and held by Barrett who popped him. Being a jerk doesnt mean its a free pass to hit him. Barrett was clearly blocking the entire plate, and AJ had no choice but to go through him. Baker, Barrett, Guillen, Jones, Podsednik, everyone agreed it was a clean play at the plate by pierzynski. Watch the video on MLB.com, AJs helmet is right behind Barrett, and he was walking towards it. If anything, look at the way AJ is walking with his hands down at his side, like he is trying to stay out of starting something, and Barrett just mistook AJ coming over to get his helmet with AJ gloating and showing off to the other dugout. And AJ going over Boone isnt even close to this. AJ didnt plop down on Boones back and stomp him, he tried to jump him and took all of his wieght off of his leg that was on Boones back as he was running, which created a hilarious chicken wing look when he was running. I think if Boone felt that AJ stomped him, he would have gotten up and done something about it.

Princess Dye
i dont at all agree that bowling-over-the-catcher should be taken out of baseball. but he's right that Brian Anderson was being an idiot. i mean, most everyone else was holding back from throwing all-out punches, except him. why is that? is he this GREAT teammate everyone here thinks he is, because he did it? or just immature as hell? how isnt everyone seeing that action as just lowering himself to Barrett's level? 3RDBASE
it still earned them respect...all logic aside...anyone could agree if your in a jamm and a buddy/buddies come to back you up...they respect you more for those actions...in the heat of it all anythig could happen. But those guys are together alot...and they would do it again I'm sure. Brian will learn from this and prolly not be as Hotheaded next time but in no way shape or form did they both not earn respect for yesterday. call it some kind of "street cred" which the players understand. Im not justifying it Im just saying they did earn it from lots of fans, players, etc.

Thome and Konerko are the ultimate teammates, and there's a reason why they didnt throw any punches. obviously they're going to get onto the field and protect their teammate. but also...they're older and theyve been in a hundred of these things. they know the punching doesnt lead to any great revelations about camraderie, even if they wouldnt openly criticize what BA did.
