YASNY
I remember the roar after the Burke-Hunter incident because nothing was done to retaliate. Well somebody retaliated and it was Anderson. I've got no problem with getting a teammate's back.
Rowand44
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) I remember the roar after the Burke-Hunter incident because nothing was done to retaliate. Well somebody retaliated and it was Anderson. I've got no problem with getting a teammate's back. And you can definitely tell he gained the respect of a lot of his teammates, especially AJ. He stood up for his teammate and that's why he's earned a lot of respect.
jenksd
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 20, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) I dont see his avatar it's there now QUOTE(Walker2Baines @ May 21, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) This is a pretty stupid topic. If you didn't respect Pods after what he did for us in 2005, then you're a f***ing idiot. Pods shouldn't need to beat the s*** out of that pussy, to gain your respect. He should already have your respect. Not to turn this into a semantics debate, but you really have a poor grasp on the message/point of this thread. SleepyWhiteSox
QUOTE(Princess Dye @ May 21, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) i dont at all agree that bowling-over-the-catcher should be taken out of baseball. but he's right that Brian Anderson was being an idiot. i mean, most everyone else was holding back from throwing all-out punches, except him. why is that? is he this GREAT teammate everyone here thinks he is, because he did it? or just immature as hell? how isnt everyone seeing that action as just lowering himself to Barrett's level? BA was coming in AJ's defense, not stupidly initiating the whole mess for no sensible reason. Therefore, I don't see how he was at barrett's level. He should already have your respect. You're not very swift are you? The reason for this thread is to recognize Pods and BA for standing up for their teammates. That's it. If you can't see that then you have some serious issues.

LosMediasBlancas
QUOTE(fathom @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Did anyone happen to see Eric Byrnes run over Brian McCann at home plate last night? McCann looked like he broke/tore something in his lower leg. I eagerly await some idiotic articles saying they should ban players from running over the catcher. Congratulations on a TERRIBLE analogy. Lets see.....the Indians didn't even feel the need to retaliate against AJP....and Marcus Vick got kicked off the team. Vick went out of his way to step on Dumerville's leg. AJP, while he almost definitely could have avoided Boone, didn't change his direction or stop so he could do it. No, I can't find a clip of it anywhere. Do you have a link to the Byrnes collision? GrndrBall1
I was actually suprised with BA being the Rookie and all. That showed some real courage. Ozzie was really happy with him. And Pierzynski did the right thing by not hitting him back. Maybe Barrett was off balance when Pods took him down but hes still the smallest guy on our team which makes it better. GO SOX!
