Rex Kickass
The story you might not have heard. Another coal mining accident, five more miners dead. Another non-union mine by the way. So four months after Sago, what's Congress done to hold mining companies more accountable for accidents and ensure better enforcement of mine safety regulations? Nothing. http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Politics/story?i...TC-RSSFeeds0312 But Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., who co-sponsored one of those bills, thinks Congress has been too slow in fixing a crisis, now four months after 12 miners died at West Virginia's Sago Mine. "When Janet Jackson had her wardrobe [malfunction], it took Congress 40 days to change the law," Miller said. "It's now over 120 days, and Congress hasn't done a damn thing about securing a safer workplace for these miners and for these families."
samclemens
agreed, the amount of miner deaths has been much too high. i dont think it has anything to do with lack of unions. i havent heard that the cause of all these accidents is greedy companies neglecting safety, some of these accidents I beleive the authorities are still trying to figure out what the cause was. whatever the cause though, it would be nice if OSHA or whoever deals with mine safety would figure out what the hell is going on and do something.
