Gregory Pratt
Am I the only one who dislikes Smith? Whenever I see him on ESPN, he's being very loud mouthed and he says silly things, IMO. I think he's one of the dumber sportscasters. I actually prefer Mariotti over him on Around the Horn, truth be told.

Heads22
I tend to agree with Mariotti a lot more when he's not talking Chicago sports....

Glad I'm not the only one. I'm not sure how often I agree with what he says, but for me it's also more often than when he talks about Chicago. you must really hate Stephen A. Smith.... I think you could say that. I saw him on Real Time with Bill Maher awhile back. He was very much obnoxious then. But, then again, I don't really care for Maher, either, so... Kyyle23
There is a reason they call him Screamin A Smith. His opinions are awful and street-based, he is all about hyping whatever the media deems hype-worthy.
Spiff
If you don't like Stephen A. Smith, then you don't like America. Perhaps you prefer Scottie Pippen's vanilla mumbling, or Mark Jackson's blatantly obvious observations?

Perhaps you prefer Scottie Pippen's vanilla mumbling, or Mark Jackson's blatantly obvious observations? I'm glad I'm not alone. Steven Smith's tone may be annoying but he is informative and entertaining to me, depending on who he is interviewing on his show. To each his own, I guess. thedoctor
i like stephen, but i tend to like his show better than his commentary on other shows. when he's in other places (nba pregame show, sportscenter spots) i think he overexaggerates his already boisterous image. to me, on his show he seems more laid back and comfortable and not as given to bombast. Buehrle>Wood
Mariotti is great on Around the Horn. It's just too bad he is a totally different person when he writes for the Sun-Times.

Quite Frankly his show is a piece of s*** and he is a first rate douchebag Exactly-its not funny, interesting or informative. Comments can be made without that angry 60's motif that is so over. A prime example of sports TV events not being watched is an unwatchable act like this one. Edited May 30, 2006 by klaus kinski
RibbieRubarb
QUOTE(soxman352000 @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) Quite Frankly his show is a piece of s*** and he is a first rate douchebag I still remember during the 2004 NBA finals he was a BIG Lakers supporter. After the Pistons won 2 games, he said the Lakers "Will win the title" then he added "Did I stutter?!?" when the studio host asked him how. Now he's the biggest Detroit fan. Even better was his assessment of the Miami Heat in the playoffs in Dwyane Wade's first year. He called them out, said they shouldnt have been there, called them a fluke, said they had no chance. After they won the first playoff series, they cut to the post-game show and the whole cast was just staring at him, he looked like he wanted to crawl under the table and hide. His tone was very soft-spoken and complimentary, and Greg Anthony just kept zinging him, it was hilarious. I take particular enjoyment when guys like him get their comeuppance after telling everyone else that they are wrong.

A teacher at my school and I always make fun of him during the day, he is a terrible analyst and sounds like an idiot whenever he speaks.
