The great Maddux gave up six runs in six innings including a three run blast by Borchard. Boy, that fight really brought the team together :D

Maddux also took out a cooler with a bat, from what I hear.

I think this is my favorite thing about the Cubs year so far:

Juan Pierre: AVG .230 | HR 0 | RBI 2 | OBP .269 | SLG .288 | SB 14 | Salary 5.8 Mil

Corey Patterson: AVG .306 | HR 5 | RBI 18 | OBP .358 | SLG .505 | SB 15 | Salary 2.8 Mil

The pitching isn’t good, the offense struggles to score runs, and the managing crew isn’t telling these guys to get their act together. I honestly don’t see anyone in that Cubs club that shows any heart or motivation whatsoever. What Barrett did at the Cell was mindless and showing absolutely no control of his emotions and frustrations that he has inside.

I think Maddux is a hero. His move to beat the hell outta that water cooler clearly fired up the troops, as they finished off being swept by the previously 11-30 Marlins. He will get a lot of calls tonight from people who have a history with that water cooler as well, it was coming after him and self defense was necessary. I also think the Cubs are going to go on a huge winning streak now, between Barrett and Maddux firing up the troops as well as Cubs management talking to Paul Sullivan about his unfair reporting and getting all of those situations straightened out.

I wonder if Dusty saw the cooler throw a punch? :huh

It was making a threatening move towards Maddux, so he reacted. He would have reacted the same if the cooler was on the street.

Lets hope that the cooler doesn't mock Zombrano tomorrow.

Luckily they are leaving town. The cooler actually points towards the sky everytime after somebody takes a drink from it, so had Zambrano pitched in this series there would have been issues.

I believe it's the same cooler that poured its contents all over several successful football coaches in the past. Definitely a shady cooler.

The above says a lot about the Cubs. It is not the players. It is the manager, GM, execs, ball park and fans. I can't put my finger on it completely but the combination of those things, to varying degrees, dooms this club every year. I am not talking about a curse. I don't believe in such things. They are reguarly in the top 1/3 of payroll every year. They do just enough in free agency every year to get the suckers to bite. The fans are pothetically optomistic. They should copy right the phrase "Just wait till next year." They are trapped in Wrigley. They can never leave that park. Eventually, it will start to hurt the bottom line. Playing day games all the time is not a good thing, IMO. They can not maintain a good ball club over a number of years. They get good for one year and them fall off badly for the next several. I don't know what it is but I honestly feel bad for Cub die hards.

good thing Randall Simon doesn't play for the cubs anymore...next thing you know, poor Billy the marlin gets the bat. If only these guys hit as good on the field as they do off the field

After watching the Maddux tandrum just now, what I love is how water is spilt all over the Cubs personal trainer (I believe)--and he sits there and takes it. Not that I'd expect him to do anything, but it's funny how he just looks straight ahead while half of his pant leg is drenched.

You wonder if something similar were to occur in our dugout, whether Guillen would ignore it like Baker did. Probably not.
