Felix
Wayne Rooney just came in for England in the 58th minute
Felix
1-0 England on a beautiful cross by Beckham and header for Crouch in the 83rd minute. Gerrard knocks one in during the 90th minute to make it 2-0. Edited June 15, 2006 by Felix

RockRaines
England looked good for 5 min, lets see if they can extend that next match.
whitesoxfan101
I'm still very underwhelmed by England, that group of their's isn't exactly a power.
SoxFan1
Sweden has had far more chances than any other team in this World Cup and they have yet to score a goal in 135 minutes. At the half, nil-nil. Edited June 15, 2006 by SoxFan1
DePloderer
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Ecuador has been nothing short of spectacular in this World Cup. Those guys are for real. I'm hoping T&T gets an upset here against England. 6pts and into the next round without firing on all cylinders. Job done. I need say no more. SoxFan1
QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) 6pts and into the next round without firing on all cylinders. Job done. I need say no more. Sure, the job is done but thats where it might stop. Any other team would take advantage of the numerous mistakes England has made. This is probably the worst group in the entire World Cup. England and Sweden have all the talent but are making the most mistakes. England gets lucky on an own goal and then takes advantage of a fatigued Trinidad & Tobago. Sweden has so much talent as well and is still yet to score a goal. Then you have Paraguay who hasn't done anything yet and Trinidad & Tobago hanging on by the skin on their teeth too. Definitely the worst group IMO. If England wins Group B, they will play either Germany or Ecuador, and both will be quick to capitalize on their mistakes. SoxFan1
Holy s***, Sweden finally scores in the 89th minute. Ljungberg with the header. Wow. Paraguay needs to tie it to stay alive. EDIT: And Sweden wins it 1-0. What a finish. Paraguay, Costa Rica, and Poland are gone. Edited June 15, 2006 by SoxFan1

southsideirish71
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) You might be regretting that later on. England has more talent on their squad than both of those teams SF1. Germany as the height to play with them, Ecuador will be defeated by the English when they play. The only hope they have is if the English get poor midfield play.
SoxFan1
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) England has more talent on their squad than both of those teams SF1. Germany as the height to play with them, Ecuador will be defeated by the English when they play. The only hope they have is if the English get poor midfield play. England has more talent than any other team sans Brazil. Everyone knows that, but they played Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago. Those are not the kinds of teams England will face in the 2nd round. Teams of greater caliber will be able to capitalize on the numerous mistakes that England makes. And don't sell Ecuador short. They are for real. Probably the most fit team in the tournament. Talent doesn't equal championships all the time. Look at the Yankee's of the last few years. Or the Red Sox sans 2004.

Oh contraire, if you know your history of past world cups, the team that wins is generally amongst the ones that start slowly. Peeking too early is a no no. Watch how far Spain get. We have yet to peak. As for poorly, we've played two games, won them both, not conceeded a goal and have three in the for column. I hate to think what youd say if we'd drawn one. Fixed . Look, England is a fine country with fine people, but your soccer team is little more than big names beating on bad teams at the moment. The best team, not the best collection of names, wins this tournament.
